New York trades:
Marcus Camby $6,250,000 to Denver
Allan Houston $12,750,000 to Denver (BYC Value $9,000,000)
Mark Jackson $3,860,000 to Denver
TOTAL: $22,860,000

Denver trades:
Nick Van Exel $9,093,750 to New York
Antonio McDyess $11,700,000 to New York
TOTAL: $20,793,750

TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to New York and Denver being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. New York and Denver had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement

Trade ID: 466622

Denver would be getting 3 key role players while only giving up 2. Van Exel wants out and McDyess probably won't be back until next year. And even then his injury could linger.

NY would be getting an All-Star caliber point guard capable of posting 22 points and 8 assists per game.
McDyess last season posted 18 Points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks per game. This guy is a monster down low. A definite risk worth taking.

Both teams improve on their current situations.
What do you guys think?

I dont know what other guys think, but this one of the best trades I have seen. Both Dice+Camby are injury prone, and both teams need change. To bad Layden, does not listen and wont make risky trades.

I doubt Denver would do that trade. Portland could offer a better package for those 2 players.

I think the Nugs would just because McDyess is hurt and it would give them a chance. Starting Jackson, Houston, Abdul-Wahad, LaFrentz, and Camby is pretty decent compared to what they have now.

But, after thinking about it, the Knicks would be incredibly thin up front becuase McDyess is out and Van Exel would take all of Ward and Eisley's minutes, so I don't think they would do this.

Actually, I would rest McDyess, let him have the whole year off, tank the season, then get a nice draft pick and we'd get a healthy McDyess back.

I agree, the Knicks would be extremely thin up front. But I believe at this point in time there is no possible thing we can do to save this season. Even if we did a Blockbuster trade and got rid of Layden. Without a strong front court we would surely suck enough this year to get a really high draft pick. We could then try and go after a big man through the draft or do a sign and trade for a big man. I think our chance of landed a decent threat at center with such a high pick at our disposal is very good. Then next year when McDyess gets back, we would have a well balanced team with an All-Star point guard, Power Forward, along with Sprewell playing his natural position. Our attention then could shift at landing a real coach...
at this point... I pray for our team to lose and lose alot! The more we lose.. the higher our pick in the draft and the better our chances of ridding ourselves of Layden. I am sick of seeing our beloved Knicks flirt with mediocrity. We still have a chance to save next season... but we must trade now... and lose big now...

Thoughts?

I agree, the best option for the Knicks now is to tank the season.

i don't think Denver will trade Mcdyess,they will prefer sending LaFrentz.Which i don't mind.

Denver would not do that trade. They would not trade McDyess for those three, never mind McDyess and Van Exel.

Let's cut the BS, trade Houston to Denver for Van Excel before another Knick opponent gets him.Van Excel is a top five PG.Did u see how Ward drove in and Jax knocking down shots opened the game.We need a constant PG that can bring that same intensity.Houston has a shy bigger contract than Van Excel,Denver wouldn't mind picking him up as long as we take LaFrentz.Which i don't under stand why Layden don't want him.To make this happen the Knicks have to include Camby & Jackson. To me this works for both teams.

I posted this Nuggets/Knicks trade back in January...
The trade was
Camby, Jackson, and Houston.
for
McDyess and Van Exel(when he was still with Denver)

Looking back now... I really feel we could have pulled it off.
If we would have added a pick the only difference from what actually materialized and what this trade proposes is Houston for Van Exel. I dunno. I'm sure if Layden would have tweaked it a lil we could have had a more complete trade with these guys back in the beggining of the year. Getting rid of Houston and adding VanX would have given us a more complete team right now with Spree playing his natural position. I really think this was a wasted opportunity.

The nuggets want to get rid of salary for free agents not get a maxed out player like houston. However if we could have pulled this off it would have been great. Then with our pick we could have taken butler...imagine:

PG: Van exel
SG: Spree
SF: Butler
PF: Dice
C: Thomas

I don't think Houston for Van Ex is good deal talent wise. Yes, we become a balanced team because Spree gets to play the 2, but Ex has a lot less left i nhis tank than Houston. Houston is overpaid but not undetalented. I think we should have tweeked the deal to send them Thomas. That why we keep our center. Our read numorous articled that said All Denver was interested in was the pick, because they really wanted Nene. They would have taken Thomas if we pushed the issue, because Nene is their Center of the future, not Camby.
