back. I thought we'd be good for 43-45 wins, but if houston is out for a long time and these guys play bad--we will fight for an 8 tseed and lucky to be .5 bottom line

if we were in the west we would be sure fire lottery

Preseason is a time for experimentation and rookies... NY will finish top of Atlantic. But I agree that Nazr and Baker need to play well.

If the Knicks were in the Western Conference Isiah probably would have realized that the team had to be blown up.

It isn't like he's built the team around high-priced vets. This team has a lot of youth (okay, as well as high priced vets...), Crawford, Ariza, Sweet and even the relatively young MArbury, TT and Nazr are the core. They obviously need to add pieces, but they have TIME to improve from within and to add a big man or two, while remaining competitive (at least in the East)...

also, I think 45 wins may be enough to win the Division. I'm not worried about anyone but Philly at this point. Boston COULD be good, but they've looked awful thus far.

On the bright side, if this season turns out to be a disappointment record wise (it's way too early for anyone to conclude that), the Knicks are required to keep this year's first round pick.

I have long thought were are a work in progress and this season is not that important other than to make the playoffs and build a base of players or assets to lay a foundations.

The reality is we are deep, but deep with bloated talent.

Team will make some noise, but will only win the division if others suck.

We are moving in the right direction and taking risks. That is the true turnaround and if measured in those terms, I think Isiah has done a very good job.

If we are less than 50 wins, its ok by me, but if some had higher expectations then they set themselves up for disappointment, not Isiah.

Sure they will say the championship is with in reach, cuz its a marketing biz also. But the reality is the benchmark of success should be if we can get home court advantage in the first round, and advance one round, that would be a HUGE improvement. A 5-6-7 seed is not the end of the world either depending on the level of competition in the East.

thats not really true. Yes.. they are required to draft a player. They cant trade this pick, but they can draft a player, then trade his rights to another team as part of a deal.
