It seems like all they do is dribble or pass the ball around and when it's time to make a move it's too late. As long as they can't knock down 3s the zone will kill them.
we have point guards who rather shoot from out side and miss than drive to the basket. Maybe they just get tired playing back to back.

We don’t have a perimeter threat. Barrett, Randle and Peyton can all go to the basket but shooting will always be a problem until we can get someone that can be a real major threat. It’s that simple offensively.

To beat a zone defense you have to have a high low post and good outside shooting. You feed the high post player and he either works with the low post or feeds the corner shooters for open threes. Problem is, opposing teams are taking away high low options and forcing Knicks to make threes. When we do, we win. When we don't, then...
Another way is to do quick ball reversals to the corners and have the low post seal at the low block and dump him the ball. Have not seen Knicks do that. But think it's because they are already getting good open looks. NBA pros are just not hitting them. That's not the coaches fault.

Floor spacing is certainly an issue. It’s my slogan.

That said, not sure at this point in the team’s development we have an “overworked” issue. I’ll accept some sluggishness if they are consistently putting the work in. If it’s genuine effort. Playing while tired is a necessary skill. I don’t want to see unnecessary injuries, but pushing that line every day to be the best is how you become better both individually and as a team. You can’t win every game, but you can work hard every day.

Does it seem to you like the Knicks are actually in the process of re-learning how to play? Seemed early like every play was starting with Julius Randle in the high post. Guys learning where to move to in reaction to the defense. Randle learning how to handle the ball when the double team comes.

Lately, it feels like they are letting Barrett initiate a bit more from the PnR. In the past, we’ve degenerated to being a pure PnR team. But, here, it feels a little different, just need a couple shooters to spread that floor because they seem to be making the correct reads.

Assists seem down the last few games.

YOu answered the question. You needs shooters to bust a zone. WE have penetrators.
Barret seems to be imporoving. Thought appears to let him play and keep doing it. He is 20.
Payton gets hot, we do great. Need more than that.
Franks last game he went 4-4 from the 3. Then he breaks. I’m not enthusiastic about his future. Smith can’t get off the bench. Smith can’t shoot. He is not powerful enough to penetrate. He can in summer videos. He physically matured and lost quickness and the explosive step. He was projected to be like Kyrie type player.
7-8 is both great and frustrating . But its better than 4-11. Obi can shoot it. But he needs his legs.
Knox can shoot it. He needs the rest of his game to come along. We have really young guys that are still really young. OBI won’t need 3 years. But he’ll need something. 15 games in after a two week camp. The leagues rookies are really flying by the seat of their pants.

3 of the 4 best outside shooters on the roster (IQ, Knox, Obi) all come off the bench

That’s why

Is that something to brag about?? I don't think so. We need three point shooters that we can depend on every game and these guys you mentioned
can't be depended on every game to shoot 3s
