we have point guards who rather shoot from out side and miss than drive to the basket. Maybe they just get tired playing back to back.
To beat a zone defense you have to have a high low post and good outside shooting. You feed the high post player and he either works with the low post or feeds the corner shooters for open threes. Problem is, opposing teams are taking away high low options and forcing Knicks to make threes. When we do, we win. When we don't, then...
Another way is to do quick ball reversals to the corners and have the low post seal at the low block and dump him the ball. Have not seen Knicks do that. But think it's because they are already getting good open looks. NBA pros are just not hitting them. That's not the coaches fault.
Does it seem to you like the Knicks are actually in the process of re-learning how to play? Seemed early like every play was starting with Julius Randle in the high post. Guys learning where to move to in reaction to the defense. Randle learning how to handle the ball when the double team comes.
Lately, it feels like they are letting Barrett initiate a bit more from the PnR. In the past, we’ve degenerated to being a pure PnR team. But, here, it feels a little different, just need a couple shooters to spread that floor because they seem to be making the correct reads.
Assists seem down the last few games.
