Monk was my preferred selection in the draft. DSJr was my second preference. Goes to show that I know crap about college talent.
Monk is supposed to be a long-distance marksman extraordinaire. The problem is, in the NBA his 3 point shooting was not good, and he does not bring much else to the table, he is not particularly tall for a shooting guard, not a particularly creative passer for a point guard, not a lock down defender, and - my biggest issue - he has short arms.
Flip him for DSJr? Why not? I suppose the issue with both of them is what the Boston commentators said in the recent Knicks game about DSJr when talking about the reason why dynamic college guards may flop in the NBA. The physical tools are all the same, but some simply cannot adjust to the greater speeds in the pros, it is like their brains cannot process and make decisions when things come at them at a faster pace.
