They got beat by a better team because they fit around their superstar better but the young Knicks took a step forward
Barrett got his game back in the second half and showed a dominance that he should eventually be able to sustain. It was what we want him to do. Leave the 3pt line alone and attack the basket and get fouled. When they sag off than pull up for that midrange jumper. He can make an absolute living off that style of play as long as he’s shooting 75% + from the line.
Quickley found his shot and his rhythm offensively. Consistency will eventually come but he’s a starting PG in this league if he takes and makes the right shots.
Knox is quietly looking like a player. He’s not going to be a star scorer but as a catch and shoot player there’s a role for him in this league
Mitch was Mitch. He’s providing consistency with what he does best even if he never expands his game beyond that.
Randle did his thing and can be the man if he gets the right production and floor spacing from the young guys.
It continues to come down to shooting. Either Burks comes back and provides exactly what this team is missing or we go out and find a shooter on the market that can start and open up things for the rest. Buddy Hield maybe ? Haliburton and Fox are the backcourt of the future there. Maybe that’s not the move but we need that player who provides what he does. We need to see Mitch Randle Barrett Burks and quickley as a lineup before making any judgment though. I want to see if teams play zone against that lineup and if Randle and Barrett can thrive with that spacing. There should be plenty of offense in that lineup with 4 guys capable of creating shots and scoring 15+ each.
We are 5-7. Forget about being 5-3 and then going on a 4 game losing streak. At the beginning of the year 5-7 would have been a pleasant surprised to most.
