One thing about RJ too. He is never square when he shoots. He shades to the left.

We should only practice playing against zone D. We need more plays against the zone. Like that High Low pass by Randle to Noel. And more. We cannot rely on our 3 point shooting to break open a zone d when our few shooters have off nights.

Agreed. RJ can be nearly unstoppable if he constantly attacks. And his free throw shooting looks 75% or so is here to stay , so his efficiency will be there if he plays to his strengths.

Yeah, its uncanny. He just adds intangibles that make everybody better - a weird chemistry thing.

He makes it hard for the opposing PG to get in rhythm and he moves the ball in offense

Yes, he seems to psychologically disrupt the player he defends (and constrains their scoring), puts them on the bench frustrated sooner, and although not a traditional PG on offense - gets our guys some looks.

By no means perfect or statistically significant but you sense it.

He is a less offensively assertive version of Halliburton. He has a similar effect too

(i'll casually bring up that an all nba 2nd team guy from last year didn't play either).

raps were going to have a step back year regardless. i had them in the 41 win range (72 game season). you don't lose kawhi + green + ibaka + gasol w/o replacing them and continue to be at an elite level especially when your roster is comprised of late 1sts, 2nd's and undrafted guys. the whole offense is based on the 3 right now which can be a recipe for disaster.

not to mention the only team displaced from their home w/ no home court all season. they just moved to tampa literally 1 week before the season started and have 7 of the first 9 on the road. it's going to be a really wacky year for the nba in general (as we've seen all around the league) but especially for the raptors. hell, most of the fans in attendance tonight were knicks fans lol.

i think the scary thing is that so many of those late 1sts, 2nds, and undrafted guys played better than some lotto guys you have. even if frank didn't play, my guess is he and knox are out of the league or end of bench fodder in 2-3 years. rj has some skill driving but that's it. not sure how much value that will have in the league of 3 point shooting. you don't magically become a decent 3 point shooter when you're this bad to begin with.

Frank wasn't on court because he was hurt and probably going to lose his spot rotation when quickly, rivers, and burks get back next game against pacers.

Right. He's hurt and given a day off considering that Rivers was available.

But unlikely to "lose his spot", IMO. There is a history of players ahead of him who drop off for one reason or another. Frank always bubbles up because talent.

The nice thing about this roster is that players can take a day to heal without the team being short-handed.

I really like this game. I mean I was really puzzled by how horribly we shot the ball, but I wanted to see how this team handles adversity and they did above expectations. On to the next

Not upset about this loss at all. The final score makes the loss look more lopsided than it was. As long as the Knicks come out to compete and play with this type of energy, they will be a team I can gladly get behind, win or lose. Lots of shots did not drop last night, especially from long distance, but a lot of them were good decent shots, once this reverts to the mean, we will be just fine.
Randle getting the double team treatment also opens up opportunities for drawing future plays.

We were missing our 3 best 3-point shooters (Burks, Obi, Quickley). Payton is a terrible shooter the last 2 games were an anomaly

If you were to tell me we would be 2-3 before the season started with this demonic schedule I’d be thrilled
