We got a good young squad and 5 FRPs in the next 3 drafts.

PG Quickley
SG RJ
SF Knox
PF Obi
C Mitch
Bench:
Frank
DSjr?
Iggy?

The starting 5 up there looks like a good mix of long, athletic and skilled guys who are very coachable and have a chance to develop under a great coach who's really going to push them.

All 3 of those bench guys have huge question marks. Frank needs to be reasonably healthy and if he is there's no way he's not in Thibs rotation. He can guard most 1-4s most nights and be a ball handler. Hits FTs. I hope to see DSjr turn it around and who knows about Iggy. Neither of those two have much to show for. One would *think* Frank would be valuable to Thibs but who knows... Thibs does like guys he can grind to dust and dont pull groins so time will tell

Obviously its wildy early with 4 preseason games but with Knox playing well suddenly you see this crazy athletic guy hitting 3s, playing above the rim and part of a defense that smothers you with length and speed.

"winning is more fun... then fun is fun" -Thibs

We're still breathing in the positivity of a good preseason and particularly Im-sanity (Quicksandity?) so the bellwether currently leads to the upbeat analysis, which we know will change as soon as the team drops 3 of 4. There are many here, however, who have been pointing out and documenting that the Knicks have been heading in the right direction for a while now. Not trading #1's, creating cap room, building a solid organization and actually looking at developing players and assets -- not going for the quick fix (instead the "Quick" fix?). It's good to take a breath and say we have something here which seems very apparent at the moment. Let's take a mental photo to maybe take at peek at when the wind blows in the other direction (soon).

Quickley - his readiness to run the offense was an amazing surprise.
Barrett - his FT shooting in the last few games makes me optimistic he will have a much improved season.
Knox - wow. Both his shooting stroke, his attention to little things, his athleticism and strong finishes. Already a contender for most improved in my mind. If KP can keep him confident, this will be a great season for KK.
Toppin - Love his attitude, length and athleticism. Randle outplayed him in the preseason, but competition is good. He’ll get his chance to shine pretty quickly, I think.
Robinson - I love this guy. His quick bounce and length makes him extraordinary. He will fill the stat sheets. Noel is a perfect practice mate for him. Those two could hold down the 5 for a decade.

Knox is a prime example of being patient with young players. Numerous threads were made about how trash Knox was and how we needed to ship him outta town. People never factored in the idea that Knox was a 19 year old, not only trying to figure out the NBA game, but was trying to figure out his body as he was still growing. On top of that, he played on a team with an unstable coach, then an interim and he didn't have PG/playmaker to help make the game a little easier for him....As good as Knox looked the last 2 games, it's still early and things can go south, but he finally has the foundation with an elite coaching staff that believes in him and will make him work, he seems more mature especially during intetviews and hopefully (fingers crossed) he may finally have a playmaker to open up the court for him....

Of the list you posted: Quick, Mitch and RJ are keepers for sure as the 3 of them can have a major affect on the game with or without the ball. I think those 3 will be a part of the core that really turns this thing around for us in a few years. Frank is on the cusp as he needs to prove he can be consistent threat with the ball. I think Knox can join the core if he continues to give the same effort on defense and on the glass. Love that rebound and simultaneous outlet pass he made the other night. Shows he starting to think one play ahead. Loving his growth.

Love Obi's athleticism and his passing ability but he's a bit smallish out there. Didn't play with much confidence in the last game. Would love to feature Obi in the high post (elbow area) to take advantage of his passing and face up game. I would much rather see him consistently knock down the 15 footer before worrying about knocking down 3 pters. Also, he looked good in the post in game 1 vs the Pistons, would like to him get more looks down there to build up his confidence.

As for Dennis, as much as I want to see him succeed, he may need a fresh start elsewhere. If Quick is what we all hope he will be, then Dennis is as good as gone especially when you consider he's up for a reup at the end of the season.

Love the direction we are headed .

We have the making of a core 5 in
Robinson
Toppin
Knox
Rj
Quick

Nice back ups
Dsjr
Frank
Noel

Excited for 2 more firsts to add to the bunch. Besides the struggles and boring one year contract vets this team is soaring in the right direction esp with a pedigree coaching staff. Even if we struggle this year and get another lottery pick it could be another building block. Plus the Mavs pick !! Man it took a lot of firings and different personnel but New York is actually having a successful rebuild ...

Having a pg like quick is going to make all the difference.

Will be good to see the development of FN and DSJ pan out this year. They have a bit of an uphill battle as their CapHolds are significant (3x salary).

Will be interesting to see if they aren’t their contracts. That said, both still have upside that can be unlocked with good coaching call and confidence.

I believe it Knox as much as the next guy, but I want to wait 20 games into regular season for confirmation. He has had a pretty good preseason/summer league and played well the first couple of games before everything went south.
