Julius Randle wrote:“I would say that maybe we’ve exceeded other people’s expectations,” Randle told Redick. “I think if you’d have just been around our group on a day-to-day basis, we just have a confidence and belief about us, and it starts with Thibs and everything he’s doing, but we just go about things the right way every day and building the right habits. So, we just have a confidence and a belief about us every game that we play that we’re going to win the game. Julius Randle wrote:“I will say this about Thibs, he’s a tough coach if you don’t like to be coached or if you don’t like to play or do things the right way, then he’s tough,” Randle said. “Thibs is a guy that… just expects a certain level of professionalism, he expects you to do things the right way, be prepared and do things the right way on a day-to-day basis, and if you don’t want to do that, then it’s gonna be tough. Sounds a lot like getting "coached up" to me. I get it... some guys didnt want Thibs here and can still hear that drum they were beating. One of those same guys said Randle reminded them of "Al Harrington" Things change. Perceptions change. Thats what makes it exciting. "winning is more fun... then fun is fun" -Thibs

I was praising Randle early on, so much for your theory. Im reading about the coach, and nothing about the player. Thats where we differ. Randle couldnt handle those minutes, play effectively, without the work he put in the offseason. On his health, and game. Why are you so determined to brush that under the rug? Randle is being gracious. Why are you so intent on making Randle's success all about someone else? Was very much against the Thibs hire because I was primarily concerned with his practice of running his players into the ground. Randle is near the top of the league. RJ was for a while as well. Im very pleased with the success early on. Hoping Rose gets him some help, some legit help. That would be something to brag about. |

Simple fact is Randle was coached up and that is just one example of him talking about it how he was coached up. Need more? You hated the Thibs hire. Seems like you have some ongoing issue there, not sure what it is, dont care. I have said nothing but how valuable Randle is here and I have said thoughts of trading him for pics etc are terrible. Randle has been fantastic is should be regarded as a cornerstone. Your "early praise" for Randle was again... after playing under Thibs. Before this season you said this of Randle: GustavBahler wrote:Randle reminds me of Al Harrington. Only had one gear, which got him frequently into trouble. Turnovers. When Randle plays under control, he's an effective scorer. Doesnt know when to stop the 1 on 3 drives to the rim. http://www.ultimateknicks.com/forum/topic.asp?t=61415 "winning is more fun... then fun is fun" -Thibs

What part of my aggreeing with 1248 upthread about prior criticism of Randle's game did you miss? Said it from the start. You've been praising Randle's results while giving credit to Thibs for the improvment. Thibs set a standard, Randle met it. One doesnt cancel out the other. |
