Kentucky guards have dominated the bubble. Murray, booker and Herro have all stepped up and all of them were somewhat under appreciated/ underrated coming out of school in comparison to what they are doing now. Maxey is the next in line in terms of 1 and done guards that may have been slightly underutilized. His shooting numbers weren’t great but the consensus seems to be that his shooting should come around in the NBA, he just couldn’t get it going in college. He’s a playmaking combo guard that has some catch and shoot ability. I’ve seen comparisons to Donavan Mitchell, Lou Williams and Jrue Holiday. He’s a 2-way player with good but not great athletic ability. He seems to be climbing draft boards due to the success of others. Draft gurus are putting him in that 8-12 range most recently. What do you think ? Does he have to be in consideration at 8 given what we know today, or not? I will also add that Quickley should be a consideration in the 2nd round. Very good shooter.

My opinion hasn't changed as I've been consistent in saying that 3 yrs from now, he has a strong possibility of being one of the to 5 players in this draft. Love his motor; he can be a tenacious on ball defender at times and he is a great finisher at the basket. He's not as good of shooter as the 'Cats you mentioned but depending on his work ethic, I do think he can be a really good player in this league.

Yeah, my opinion hasn't changed. I still consider him a mid to late lottery pick. People key in on the successes, but no one mentions the Harrison twins and other busts. Kentucky routinely gets the highest rated guards in the country, so it doesnt surprise me when a few if them pop in the NBA. Doesn't really change how he's evaluated as an individual.
Always... always remember: Less is less. More is more. More is better and twice as much is good too. Not enough is bad, and too much is never enough except when it's just about right.

Given where we draft, it’ll be interesting if he we grab him if he’s available. With Payne on the Knicks staff, if he’s any good it’d be hard for the Knicks to pass on him.
Though interestingly, did Calipari give Knox a better endorsement as a prospect than SGA?
(And likewise, did he rank WCS ahead of Lyles, and more importantly Devin Booker?)

I think Payne will really have a say in the process. He knows these Kentucky guys day in and day out. I think given the fact that Maxey is a first round pick and Kentucky is expected to have 3 or so second round picks, there's a good chance we draft at least 1 Kentucky player.

Maxey and Cole Anthony are a bit similar in that coming out of college, they were expected to be premium shooters and it didn't pan out so well in their freshman years. Much has been written about his smooth shooting stroke.
Maxey was an 83% FT shooter, though... so that gives some optimism that his sub-30% 3pt shooting may have been an aberration. (Anthony shot 38%FG, 34%3pt, 75%FT... but was also hampered by a knee injury which could have factored into his performance)
