Nice article in P&T. https://www.postingandtoasting.com/2020/9/10/21429592/frank-ntilikina-continues-to-work-out-in-france-looks-increasingly-jacked

Look at the guns!

And check the Marcus Smart comp from Tommy B

Marcus Smart over his first two NBA seasons:
FG percentage: 35.7%
3-point percentage: 29.6%
FT percentage: 72.0%
Assists per game: 3.1

Frank Ntilikina over his first two NBA seasons:
FG percentage: 35.4%
3-point percentage: 30.5%
FT percentage: 73.5%
Assists per game: 3.1

But yeah, let's go ahead and throw Frankie in as a bag-of-balls sweetener for some of these crazy deals folks have been smoking up.

The new new core: Randle, RJ, IQ. Maybe Mitch. Future pick. Future trade. Future FA.

Frank could look like Zion, wont matter without a sea change in his offense. Im glad Frank is putting in the effort. But it all hinges on his groin. And avoiding more time off from that injury.

A couple of things have to go right for Frank to really turn the corner.

I wasn't a fan for this pick. I wanted DSJ. Now that we have both, I prefer Frank any day all day. I would lock him up on a cheap long term contract. I have a feeling Frank is a late bloomer, as far as his offense. And when his offense cathup to his defense, he will command more money. Lock him up now. I like his attitude, maturity and physical impact on defense. We have a lot of bums to pick on with this team. But I think franks slow start was the knicks fault. If his career started on another team, there would be a separate thread to trade frank to the knicks. But in typical knick fashion, we either over rate or under rate our players.

I thought things were almost tailor made for his success early on, with early mentoring and playing alongside Jarrett Jack.

Frank's slow development has been in part due to his recurring groin injuries which kept him from making consistent progress - he'd play well, then miss a some games and probably be hampered a bit after he returned. That and KP's injury were the big set backs.

The Knicks ultimately didn't do him any favors by loading up on PGs (Burke, Kadeem Allen, Mudiay, DSJ, Payton, etc...) but at the same time, what were the Knicks supposed to do - it's not like he head and shoulders outplayed them).

Frank looks pretty shredded for his body type based on these photos - and probably about as fast twitch as his frame will support.

He may want to tone down some of his defensive lateral moves from 10/10 effort to 8/10 effort to avoid some of these groin problems. He can't play defense if he's off the court.

Yeah I think his groin injuries and the stupid PG competitions f’ed with his progress. He needed a specific role, as a young player, that he could excel in to start.

Hopefully the hard work on his body translates on the NBA court.

In retrospect, I think Jeff Hornacek did the best job in handling Frank. Eased him with a little rope, than yanked it back when he was drowning. I don't know if Frank will break through, but you could argue our dysfunctional team did him no favors. Maybe Frank will have better luck in San Antonio or Dallas.

I hope Frank flies back to Tarrytown next week and be ready to participate in the voluntary workouts with the new coaching staff. This can be a good opportunity to make the best impression on the new staff. I hope Frank's goal is to convince the front office and the coaching staff that they no longer have to think of drafting or signing or trading for a point guard coz after 3 years he is now ready to finally step up! I do hope that the news starved knicks fans can get insights, training clips and coaches assessments on players like Frank during the 3 week training camp.

We get Frank hype every offseason. We know he’s putting in the work. We just need to see him come into the season with confidence and a jump shot.

Make or break year.

I'd be happy to see him average 10 points on 43% shooting and 36% from 3.

He would be hugely valuable with those splits

Would not take much to up to those stats.
He lost half a season to a shoulder injury and that affects shooting.
When heathy his last 10 game Under Miller were telling. He was playmaking not running to the corner and hiding as per Fizdale.
As said often, Franks defense won games.
When Mook Morris or Randle are your no. 1 options the team was limited. Bobby Portis getting hot attributed to many wins we had.
Issue is we did not have many.

Looks like he is in great shape. Hopefully he comtinues to improve on his offense. It has always been about his comfidence and aggressiveness for me. His dedense is top notch. Question will be if he can take that next step up so that he is not seen as replaceable or just a role player.

Love the boxing thing. Be worth it to extend if he can get into a scuffle with KP and get a 20 game suspension for knocking out a tooth.

Frank will be a vital part of a winning team at some point in this league (like Smart is) and I just hope its with us.

Does anyone remember the last drafted player we resigned? Im at least glad this current FO is vested in developing players. Sigh... here we go again. Fingers crossed
