Why am I looking through these threads and seeing people trying to point out problems already when it has only been 1 preseason game? What's the point? There hasn't been anything to go off of yet. When the season starts it'll be the first string only playing majority of the game with hand-picked subs. From what I heard, the first string did an awesome job. Man..... this team even scored the first 20 points in the 4th quarter. When was the last time the Knicks have done that? Now Lenny hasn't mentioned his 12 man roster or starters yet, but let's give these guys time before we jump their bones. This is only my opinion and please don't feel like I'm pointing any fingers at you.

Cause the forum would be empty without it, theres nothing else to do, and thats what Knicks fans that come here enjoy most - philosophizing.

Come on Metra, please don't state the obvious. Thanks for answering my question though.

Ask Briggs. He wrote about it being a near disaster because the Knicks won by only eight pts in their first preseason game. I personally wouldn't reach any huge conclusions off of one preseason game (be it a good or bad performance by the Knicks).

it's the content of the play in the 2+3rd periods that caught my attention. It was the *ease* of penetration by the Nets, the TO's by the Knicks and unfortunately passive play by the same two guys who shouldve come out hard--TT and Nazr. We are smallish and can be exploited in the paint. I saw many good things to. Just because its game 1 of pre-season wont change some facts of inconsistent players- and a smallish team. What I said was it wouldve been disatrous to lose by double digits to this poor poor team. We were lucky to leave Jamal in to play against their awful scrubs 3rd stringers or we wouldve lost that game going away -the way things were going. You cant do that even in game 1 of pre-season against the worst team in basketball and the nets are or very close to it. I just hope that some guys step up in the next game--KT isnt going to be guarded by Brian Scalbrine next game--how about Tim Duncan--lets see how we fair at home tomorrow.

My Father had called me yesterday talking about how the Nets were running the Knicks off the court. He was so excited (he is a Knicks fan as well, he just knows things like that get to me). I then calmly asked him what quarter was it... He told me it was the third quarter. I then politely asked him to call me back mid-way through the fourth quarter.

When he called me back he had finally came to reality that maybe he was getting ahead of himself because by this time, the Nets haven't even answered for none of the Knicks 20 points....

My point is. Give it sometime and things will get better. It's okay to point out the bad, but don't insist to anyone that we have problems (once again it is only my opinion). As for you Briggs.... I agree with the fact that if the Knicks had lost by double digits it would have been bad, but for me only as a fan. I don't think it will be bad for the team cuz they will have 82 official games left to play.

You see, if the Knicks get blown out by 30 points this game and then go on to play in the NBA Finals, no-one will ever reflect on the Knicks getting blown out by 30 in preseason because it wouldn't matter and it wouldn't be valid in any argument. It's like saying Jordan wasn't the number one pick when he got drafted so he wasn't the best player in the draft.

Im just excited about the season.....

The Knicks just have alot of talent. The style of play is also different.

You don't need a month to go by to tell what guys can do......

Good counter-point.

One thing I know Shandone can't do is crack the rotation this year. Cats like Ariza keep this stuff up that they started last night, and Shandone is gonna rack up DNP's before and after the season starts.

At the same time, he has to be somewhat showcased to boost his trade value.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I think it's all good.
As Knicks fans we were just starved for some real bball action and overanalyzed every little detail
There are going to be nights when Ariza looks like a rookie for once, KT is missing everything/getting stuffed, sweetney looks like 'spoon, jc looks like AI except without any shots being made, etc.
Yet you must remember TT and Nazr aren't exactly just going to screw up every game either.
It's all just preseason excitement

dude the knicks played well I thought...
the only reason the nets came back was because of subsitution of players
like crazy...while the nets still had jefferson and w.e on the court.
which proves my point that the knicks stayed with their lineup in the first they dominated... and the 4th quart on they dominated...
Lenny was just trying to switch up everything to see how things go, at one point we had sweetney and kurt on the court with sweetney being the center...I mean thats wut preseason is for to try some things out.

dont go getting too excited about pre-season.....once regular season starts, no one remembers the pre-season. regardless, i still detect a sense of rabidness with fans having issues

Who's getting excited about these messly 2 pre-season games? I just simply made a smart-*** remark to Briggs that's all.

I agree; Briggs was the one talking about it being a "disaster" if the Knicks had lost their first pre-season game
