If you don’t love this guy after this fluff piece then you just don’t want to.
I read it, drank the orange and blue kool aid and call me a fanboy. He is “The Priest”!

I really think he will succeed.

1. He works for a boss that knows him very very well
2. He has coached in NY during our prime years and knows the pressure of the fans
3. Winning players love him.
4. Our young guys are workers, they have not yet gotten the second contract or need to work harder to get a better pay with the falling salary cap.
5. He has had time off- for sure he used this to evaluate his schemes
6. He is a basketball lifer, who has no fallback but basketball, he knows if he screes this over, he won't be a head coach again in the nba.

The only person that will F this up is dolan.

I think its really this simple... all of it. The bold is what scares me also.

I think this is the tipping point tbh, if this fails, knicks fans will not pay a premium for a subpar team. Especially not in this economy we are headed to.

I suppose expectations are the key for dolan. Its my opinion he wants to win, willing to spend, but panics when he should be cool.
This thing need to trend well. As with most things I tend to think we are in a position to increase our frequency of success given the draft picks we have, but at the same time have the currancy to make a deal.
As Triple alludes to in his remarks about "Opportunity" I tend to agree. The master plan is more a "Tilt". GO young and devellope? Ok, but to what extent. What is the outlook for Mitch, RJ, Knox and Frank?
LEts be real, no writer knows what we are doing let alone any of us. Thibs pressor I doubt will be more than a generic introduction. Doubt he shows the teams hand as to what it will do in the future. Mayube we move up in the draft, maybe down? Maybe trade, maybe not. Free agents? Thibs might despise some players vs. others.
His age? If he has piss and viniger he'll be fine. Im not worried about that.

Im not the biggest fan of the roster and the KP trade hurts like too many hot wings hurt, but so it goes. I will say this is the best I have felt about any FO/HC combo since Checketts ran the garden.

Its easy to talk about same old Knicks. There is another side. That side entails some big name folks pooling their talents together to build a team in NY. With every new failure the group that elevates the Knicks back to relevancy or god forbid an upper echelon team will be legendary and can write their own story from them on... I am rooting for them

LOL! Hardly. All we got was an infusion of change but instead have done so with cap flex, a cupboard of picks, a few good prospect already on the team. IN the past we had other elements. Some good, some not.
RJ would be a top pick this year but instead of dreaming he is ours. Im optimistic. Is that so wrong?
The future is far from certain. Some fans can't do that. They need a path they can see. I have imagination things can be good, but have no idea how it unfolds.
It was awful to see the bright young Fiz fail and KP break and want out. Lets hope this era puts a good product on the floor and we have a long successful run!

I think he'll get more out of the talent we have than Hornacek & Fizdale. Good coaches have a way of taking poor ill-fitting rosters and turning them into .500 teams. And turning talented rosters into legit upper seeds.

It's tough to say what kind of identity he'll bring to this team - it kind of plays into what the pieces say. If we have grinding, hard-nose players, he'll get that out of the team. If we need to run to win, we'll do that. He'll find out what works and milk it.

Although Mills, Perry and Fiz appeared to be on the same page, the competency was lacking not only from the young coach but from Mills in particular. The jury is still out on Rose, but based on his hires and the BB minds he has surrounded himself with, and the fact that he hired an established coach to actually coach and not be a recruiter shows that he already is more competent than Mills ever was.

Thibs was not my first choice, but I like the idea that for the first time in a long time, we have a competent coach and what appears to be a competent front office all on the same page. I'm hopeful that the 5 year contract means that the front office will not skip steps and continue to build this thing the right way as to establish long term success.
