Good presentation! Can’t I say I disagree with any of it. You did a nice job putting together what most of us have read about.
My take as a fan is:
Retreads like Him, Thibs and Woodson are good, but they are antiquated. Its why they are not head coaches succeeding. What I want to know if I’m conducting the interview is what clinics, input from others, etc have that candidate involved in since that justifies another opportunity. I have read about Thibs making the rounds and he is a crazy worker towards his craft. With that in mind, I would expect an evolution from that which would concern me about bringing his baggage with him. Woodson had been Doc Rivers top assistant and has a story to tell since he was let go from Knicks. Kidd has a reputation of being stubborn and perhaps is not dedicated to learning. “I’m Jason Kidd, HOF with bling” is good for fans but not for hiring GM. They want more. When Ever I heard or saw an Jason Kidd interview as a coach I just never got a good vibe off him. As a player he has the cred to be arrogant. As a coach he has a different role and part of that is to communicate to the press and fans. In the end I don’t have to like him, but he has to show something. Popovitch is a miserable human via interview but his years of winning and social positions he gets many a free pass. Even to the extent we go ga ga over any of his assistants despite they have been in decline since Duncans retirement in 2016. Contrast the last 20 years. Knicks are the worst team in NBA vs. spurs the best as per winning %. Might even be for all North American professional sports. Pop is at the center of it as the coach. A rep well earned! But, Mr Hardy has not been a part of it all.
Now if Kidd can bring Giannis as per some secret pact well then he might fair pretty well. coach has to have the talent to do his thing. Pop was very fortunate in his career. same for any with a chip or three. This man can openly talk smack about trump in freakin Texas and he is still loved!!!! Jason Kidd has the cool, he just needs to up his chops.
