Ariza definitely looks like he's got the skills to be a good player for us down the road...i'm sure he's going to see playing time over Shandon this year easy...Brewer's on the ball D looks pretty good too.

on the flip side, that Storey kid on the Nets looks good too...anyone got the book on him?

End of the 1st half score is 47-47. Nets got back in the game because their starters were on the court but for the Knicks it was mainly the 3rd string bench.

More observations:

KT's shot is on point. Penny seems to be forcing it. Brewer looks better than Norris. Shandon, Barrett and Bateer have gotten no burn.

The Nets offense still uses a lot of back cuts and good passing.

1st half impressions

Crawford played very well. He is shooting the ball extremely well and he is playing some good defense.

Tim Thomas had a decent 1st half. He was very active on the defensive end which was nice to see.

Nazr Mohammed didn't have a good half at all. He has dissapointed me so far, picked up 3 fouls very quickly and hasn't been on the floor much at all.

Trevor Ariza had an excellent 1st half. The kid can get up high. He made a couple of nice defensive plays but he also got beat down low a couple of times. He also has to keep his fouls low, already has 3.

Sweets had a pretty good half. He showed flashes of being able to score a lot in the post area. However, I want him to show me more defensively.

Kurt Thomas had a great 1st half. He shot the ball extremely well and he got others involved when he had the ball. Excellent half for Kurt.

Marbury only played in the 1st quarter but he played well. He had around 6 or 7 points I think. Anyway, he did a good job running the team. Our chemistry was looking very well and we had a pretty big lead in the 1st quarter.

As a team we really have to lower our fouls. We fouled way too much IMO. I believe Ariza, Tim, and Nazr all have 3 fouls.

I didn't really keep track. However, Crawford scored a lot and should have around 16 points. Kurt has at least 12 points. Stephon had around 7 points in limited minutes. Ariza has 6 points or more. Sweets and Tim probably have around that much also but I'm not sure.

Other impressions

As someone said earlier, Penny looked a little bit like he was forcing shots. Brewer played better than Moochie. One thing that I took note of was as soon as Tim picked up his 2nd foul in the first quarter, Ariza was sent in. Even though it is the first game of the preseason that most likely means Ariza will be the backup SF for this team.

Right now it is

Nets: 57
Knicks: 51

with around 8:30 minutes left.

Marbury threw a bad pass which led Tim to committ another foul. Plannic threw a really nice alley-oop to Jefferson.

very sloppy play by the Knicks...too many T/O's & no cohesion on D...the only thing keeping them in the game is KT's shooting...his midrange jumpers are dropping consistently.

no consistent shooter...this proves how valuable Allan Houston is to this team...the Nets are just clogging the lane & no one on the Knicks can knock down a jumper from the outside now.

End of 3rd quarter Nets up 74 to 63.

We're playing too sloppy and committing way too many fouls. We didn't look at all offensively compared to what we did in the 1st quarter. People shouldn't get too caught up in the score though because we were up by a lot early on until we had our third stringers in. If this was a regular season game, we would be up by double digits. However, that is still no excuse for our bad play in the 3rd quarter.

yeah i know...it's not the score i'm worried about...it's the lack of cohesion on D & the sloppy play...but the 3rd unit is making a little run here at least...the lead is down to 5

Nets-74
Knicks- 69

9:48 remaining

Crawford is having a great game, he is shooting the ball well and he is playing some good defense. He has taken some bad shots throughout this game however.
