If the sixers or rockets get bounced early in the playoffs I expect they will try and trade embid, harden, and westbrook.

Would you guys be opposed if the sixers or rockets get bounced in the playoffs early like 1 and put fire sale on there superstars embid, harden, and westbrook on the trading block. I wouldn't mind if knicks trade mitch robinson, knox, frank or dsj to sixers and dallas first for joel embid. I wouldn't mind having joel embid a superstar center and i don't believe mitch is going to be at same level as embid is know. I am conflicted about getting westbrook i don't think he would be happy in nyc and westbrook sometimes rubs teammates the wrong way. I not opposed of getting james harden i think if just for cap space and no young players i am fine with him in knick jersey he would be a clear number 1 option. Joel embid contract next season 29 million, harden contract 41 million, and westbrook contract next season is 41 million. I think out of three i think embid is easiest to get because we can trade mitch for him and contract isn't bad like westbrook and harden.

I think the ‘trade for a star’ strategy is flawed because we can easily be outbid by OKC and New Orleans thanks to all the picks they got from their trades last offseason.

I suppose we have nothing better to talk about so I won't be snotty -- but this is the wrong approach that is the history behind why the Knicks are so terrible for so long. McDyess, Eddy Curry, Bargiani, Marbury, even Melo are the predecessors -- and I know I'm leaving some names out. We gave up the farm for flawed at best to decrepit "stars" who came to teams bereft of talent and draft picks that we gave up for them not to mention screwing the cap. Even if we got Embid, Westbrook, or Harden for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th tier assets suggested here how far is Emblid from a career ender or Westbrook from shooting 29% to score 30 on a terrible team? Or Harden being the second coming of Carmelo?

Embiid seems the most likely move all things being equal. The phrases “ all that glitters is not gold” and “ be careful what you wish for” apply here.

Okc wants to rebuild by the draft there owner is cheap doesn't want to pay luxury tax. Its going to be really interesting what new orleans does this off season with brandon ingram if they give him what he wants plus with covid salary is going down for everybody especially small market teams.

Embiid a great talent but he has the body of a 30 year old at this point. PHilly change coaches.
Rockets are letting MDA walk.
I can see Philly trading Simmons before Embiid.

If Sixers management believe Embiid has the body of a 30 yr old as you do, why would they trade a first team all defensive, all around young player like Simmons and keep the old man? Sounds like bad business to me...

I strongly think we should steer clear of Embiid - he's talented but moody and always has injuries - not a good probability that he will offer us the needed performance consistently at the high pay rate he earns/will earn. Amare should have taught us that it's too risky for our franchise (given that we've sucked for decades) to roll the dice on players with injury histories.

Westbrook has a lot of miles on those legs and is likely to start to wear down at some point (didn't he just have 2nd meniscus surgery a year ago).

Harden has been injury free but doubt Houston would move him and I can't stand that he doesn't seem to play defense most of the time.

Would never consider Embiid due to the injury concerns. I want to further develop our core players ( R&J, Mitch, Frankie) add via Draft and FA. FA target lower tier “stars”. Ie Vanvleet, Harris etc
Lessons have to be learned from past experiences.

Simmons is a great all around player? He won't bother to learn to shoot foul shots. He doesn't shoot threes. Are those not parts of all around?
Embiid is a force in the league now. That said, I don't want either one. Let that great process work itself out in Philly.

Harden... how long before the line "he only plays one end of the floor" gets typed 5 million times a month on here?

Westbrook also doesn't D and can't win with stars or sheehit. At OKC one of the simple things he needed to do to make anyone better was move off the ball and maybe set a screen or two, but he wasn't interested.

Can't we just get Zion, Brandon Ingram, and Trae Young, hope the last two can learn to play D and move on?

Return not great if so. Simmons might have a great future as he is young but with Embiid you go win now?
Maybe you get John Wall AND Bertans in return. Contract is crazy. Wiz can rebuild with Beal and Simmons.
Just an example.

If the sixers or rockets get bounced early in the playoffs I expect they will try and trade embid, harden, and westbrook.
