The Knicks image among NBA players took another hit with how they handled the George Floyd statement, maybe this offseason trading for the player they like/needs will be a better option than putting all their eggs in one basket like what they did last year and just try to lure the free agents the front office covets. We all know how that turned out.

A trade chip thats been in the news recently has been Julius Randle, which teams can be interested in him and who can we get for him? Is there any chance the bulls can trade Markkanen for Randle and maybe one of Dallas' 1st round pick, preferably not next years'? That will solve the shooting Big the Knicks desire. Or will the bulls be more open to trading Otto Porter instead? Will Porter be a good fit?

Who are the other trade partners around for Randle?

I say they just grin and bear it, unless it's a package for a legit difference maker. He only has another season left. For once, the Knicks aren't the desperate ones. The cap situation looks good whole a lot of other teams are mired in cap hell. We can afford to sit and watch how things play out.

Knicks have two picks in next years draft and COULD use Randles cap space for FA.
Knicks youth assets and picks can make for trades.........
Thus......

RJ is homegrown stud. Ceiling is MCGRADY/Pierce. Kid is still 19.
Free agent
Trade......

There is the trio of goodness. No clear path. Mitch is still a wild card, Knox and Frankie can go either way but we have three number one picks between this season and next. Leon if I can guess is all about the summer of 21. Have to nab a FA.....Need trade fodder. Leon is not here to just sit tight. I expect trades, I expect yoot will be a part of it. My hope is RJ is special. Floor is Derozen. Ceiling All star.

Ever since LBJ took his talents to south beach don't you notice how most players are opting for shorter deals so they have options as to WHO they play with or WHERE they play. There are so few bad contracts in the NBA, and besides, we had all the cap space in the world just last season

Nobody is going to trade Randle for someone worse than him with a longer contract, those days are long gone. and I'm hard press to think the knicks can get better through FA and the Draft. Not after 4 top 10 picks in 6 yrs, and a decent amount of cap space in the same span of time. I think trades are our best route out of this mess

I think the Wizards, Suns and Bulls (depending on what they do with Markennan) are the only teams that would have any interest....and I suspect that interest would be faint. Maybe to the Bulls with cash for Otto Porter Jr.? I'm not crazy about the idea since Porter is a huge injury-risk but he's a better fit than we can hope for from Randle if healthy.

The Suns could use him as well since they feature lineups that can surround Randle with shooters. Ayton is a piss-poor defender but improving, so it's possible they can get away with playing the two together. Maybe with them having drafted Cameron Johnson and re-upped Kelly Oubre, we can add a pick and cash to extract Mikal Bridges? That would be a stretch though. The Suns no longer have dead salary to make the trade work and Mikal Bridges is exactly the kind of rotation player teams are looking for, which only helps to increase their ask. So, I think we're stuck with Randle unless the landscape of the league radically shifts in the coming months.

Agree, glad Perry only gave Randle 3 years. Players get hurt on contenders, or arent chipping in enough off the bench, thats where Randle might have some value. Dont see it happening this season, with everything that has happened this year.

Where is the "Knicks seems to be open" disclosed via the team via a statement or some verified source?
No doubt nothong is off the table when Leon and his new guys nor should it.
At the same time the season is not over for 22 teams.
Move Randle is possible but we don't know what moves other teams are making to open that salary spot and minutes.
We treat randle like he is garbage. He is not, he was the second best player on the team beind Morris. That speaks to the winning % or shall we say the lack of!!
He is not the problem. His spin turnovers are not the reason why the team is sub .500. Im not saying he is untouchable. Im not taking long term salary back unless its a player we deem a long term hold.

Nothing can really be decided until the draft but I honestly would rather keep Randle. If he cuts down on the turnovers, he actually is a pretty solid player. I am not opposed to dealing him, but we have bigger concerns other than whether to keep Randle.

I would like to see Randle on a better coached team with some offensive balance.

Do you guys actually remember we started the year with Fizdale as the coach? He seemed to think Randle was Chris Webber.... Its tough in the NBA for guys to take lesser roles. It rarely works out. Typcially those players get a change of scenery which is what I think drives Randle trade talk. Randle can do a lot of good things that fit in a team concept. We never got a chance to see that last year and the amount of passing Elf did to Randle and NOT to everyone else on the floor was just plain weird.

The Knicks need to be patience with their young player but as always they do not.

I'm trying to think what young player they weren't patient with that developed into a Game changer..KP..maybe.

As in we drafted? For years we had few picks.
Arias. Not an all star but a very solid player.
David Lee. Hingdisght we used his cap on Amare. Dlee was an allstar.
Mark Jax. Strickland.
Not game changers but good careers and could have been more valuable as trade fodder if patient:
Tim Hardaway. Solid shooter 3-4th option on a decent team.
Landry Fields. Injury cut his career.
Gallo
Mozgov

for years we traded picks. Picks that became Aldridge, Noah, and Pippen.
1248, you seem to suggest we should not even bother to draft and develop because we have a bad history of it.
Goal is to adapt and move forward.

We seem to not trade well. Should we stop trading?
Free agents? Should we not attempt?

verification is in the wins and losses. This team needs a lot of things.

The Knicks seems open to trading Randle but who can we realistically get for him?
