If the NBA opens up I’m ok with:

set the playoff teams based on winning %. Seems out west there might be an arguement that Pelicans were on the rise but they and Portland are 3.5 games behind.

For the Lottery use the “Losing 5%” (same thing as winning %). Knicks are 6th and while they are just a game over the pistons it is what it is. Knicks after Fizdale was on a better trajectory and one might argue we might have improved to the extent we finish 7,8th, 9th in lottery order. But we don’t and won’t know.

What to do with the other half of the league that is NOT in playoffs? I don’t know really. Its pointless to even have them play but as a fan I want to see the knicks play. And more than just 5 games BTW! I like the idea of freezing the Lottery and standings but maybe expand the playoffs to 12 teams per side. That suits my selfish knick inclusion but makes no sense for the league.

If they are all playing a campus format I like the idea of reseeding the teams based on record then the traditional conference. Milwaukee would still open vs. Orlando but Lakers open vs. Nets. Would have been fun if Durant and Kyrie would play. Still more interesting then Lakers opening vs. Grizz....

How to incentivize more games for the lower teams? Any ideas? I like the idea of play in ideas but you have to Have to delay the rest of it until its sorted out. Parallel type tournament for the lower teams with no incentive dilutes the real playoffs.

At the end of the day something is better than nothing.
