I think Conley, Paul and possibly Wall for point guards. Blake, and Horford come to mind as guys that would probably be let go. The Knicks might amnesty Randle. I think the Nets woukd amnesty Prince. Celtics might amnesty Hayward.

Does this mean they come off the salary cap? If yes then there is no way you don’t remove Noah. He still has 2 or 3 years left! Randle, if not traded, can be gone next Summer and believe me.... I want him gone.

If you can’t use the clause on Noah though, I would save it. If you can’t trade Randle then at least he’s only on the books for this coming season. He’s not preventing us from getting free agents by next Summer.

Man. I totally forgot about Noah. Yeah. I would use it on him too if allowed.

I would actually be all for trading for Chris Paul, if OKC doesn’t elect to waive him. We could still probably get him for cheap and we’d be able to waive him next Summer. I’d rather wait and see if they waive him though.

Didn't this originally get called the Allan Houston Rule or something and it ended up being ironic because we didn't use it on him? If I remember correctly, last amnesty didn't get used nearly as much as we all anticipated because the teams still had to pay the salary, so kept them on the books in case they could end up trading them. No way teams will want to replace the salary by taking on more salary (so don'ts it being used to sign big name free agents). It will only be of use for teams in luxury tax hell, and/or on relatively minor salaries (maybe in the $10mil per range rather than max)

They would come off the cap but teams would still have to pay their salary, so it only ends up getting used iff they're in luxury tax hell. Think about- if you keep the player and don't amnesty them, you can maybe move them when you get to their last year, or can negotiate a buy out. Or you can trade them before you get to that point. If you Amnesty them you lose all those options and have to pay the salary in full. That's why it didn't get used too much last time there was one.

I believe that their estimating the salary cap will drop 20 million next year. If that happens a lot of teams will need to make difficult decisions.
