Sports as we know it are gonna be gone for 1-2 seasons imho

I’ll add this. As a Knicks fan if you live anywhere in the 860 area code in ct

you can’t even buy msg Knicks. Like I’d be willing to pay whatever but I can’t no good even w league pass it gets blacked out. With this scourge hopefully if we have to rely on tv that games can be made available.

So funny coincidence. I’m cutting out cable and moving to YouTube TV or the like. Maybe just Netflix for a while. Did a bit of research for MSG channel and found these:

Oh yeah, I was thinking that even the next NBA and NHL season might be threatened. I can only wish bars and restaurants will be ok to go but who even knows about that. Regardless, I am thinking the next year will be a nuclear winter when it comes to sports. With that said, I am more so hoping people will be getting their jobs back. I don’t see how long we can go with millions upon millions being unemployed.

Fubo.tv is not on any of the streaming devices. You putting a mini PC connected to your TV? That's what I do now to watch MSG.

I know Fubo works on a roku. I have gotten it the past three years for basketball season. I think I used a chromecast with Fubo on vacation. My complaint about Fubo is that they don’t have espn and they didn’t used to have tnt. We prefer Hulu live to any other streaming services but they don’t have msg. Another good option for sports is hehe streams.

Regarding Fubo, I live 7 Miles outside of Rochester but my cable package was Buffalo area based. We had one msg channel and the Knicks were blacked out about 20 games a year for the Sabres. I try to watch every Knick game. My first solution to this was getting ballstreams. When that got shut down I signed up for another device that was only around for a year. Fubo was the first legal option I had for watching all Knick games. I love Fubo for that but overall there are better streaming options but the only other one that I am aware of that has msg is direct tv now but it costs quite a bit more. Fubo does work with most streaming devices. If you go to the bottom of their home page you will see the devices that it works with.

sweet! thanks. I literally just cut cable. still paying for internet. I just got a new smart tv so on one hand I'm like why the eff did I just buy that to only cut... but I have found you can find sports channels in quirky places. for example, Samsung has this app on their newer TVs TV+... I get the ACC Network on tha tapp for example. So I think the cheapest way to cut the cord is just sort of piecemealing it together

Yup. Google "cutting the cable cord" and you will see some good articles.

I am not super savy on this topic but if you have bought a Smart TV within the last few years, you won't need an extra purchased device like FireStick or Chromecast or Roku or Slingbox, apps are readily available within their system.

Finding MSG is a bit of a hunt and I wish they were available more widely.

Lots of options out there to battle back the cable company.

OK nerdy nerds, can you help us out with VPN's. What they are, how to use, which products are better than others. Any downside risks for them? Cost? How to use with NBA League Pass?

VPN from 10,000 foot view is a way for your computer/device that is connected to the internet mask your IP address. You can basically set your location to say Chicago and you will have an IP address designated for Chicago.

NBA league pass. You can purchase the 1 team option. However, due to blackouts, this is not ideal. NBA league pass uses your IP address to determine your location. So if you are in NY then it will be blacked out.

By using VPN, you can mask your location to anywhere else in the country and NBA league pass will work for your device.

I don't think the streaming devices have vpn capability. You will need to use a computer and hook it up to your TV.

So... launch VPN...then launch your browser for NBA league pass.

Hope this helps.

You can use a cheap Android TV box.

I posted a work around using an Indian address a while ago. Never tried it out, but the benefit was a much lower price for the season package. Downside is that you have to go through the process of turning in your VPN every time you logged on and monitoring you're usage if you're using a free service.
