Seems like this virus will be tough and long lasting.
How about sports just played on TV for the next year- year and a half with no fans in stadiums? It’s not the same for sure but it’s way better than nothing

Shut the whole country down for 30 days. Close the borders, curfew, keep the youth contained so they don't amplify the virus, and it will burn off in 30 days.
Then start opening back up.
Business/economy can survive 30 days. If it goes on for 90 days it can't.
Not an original Nalod thought. But it makes sense.
We'll have a virus by May. combine the two you can defeat it.
Do that and I'll invest bigly.

impossible to shut things down for 30 days. I don't have food for thirty days.

The shut down is about flattening the curve because we don't have the hospital capacity to serve everyone that would get sick and require treatment.

Briggs - may I suggest Mexican football (soccer).

I'm pretty sure they're playing still in empty stadiums.

The shut down is about flattening the curve because we don't have the hospital capacity to serve everyone that would get sick and require treatment.

Only pharmacies and supermarkets open.
Federal support to food supplies via national guard, etc of trucking.
Regionalizing supplies is shuting it down.
You contain by limiting movement, not eliminating.
I don't have 30 days either.
The delivery person in the neigbhorhood stays in the neighboohood.
The trucks interstate get disinfected. The drivers get tested regularly.
This is easy to type. This is where we learn and improve going forward.
Shut it down stops it. If nobody thought of this then its time we figure it out going forward.
This administration made mistakes defunding certain agencies. Its imperative we reestablish them and correct.
Not time to point fingers, time for action.

My go to, SNY New York is off the air. Not a big fan of espn's coverage of anything but live sports. I will be getting most of my sports news from my phone now.

No plan can ever work without wide scale testing readily available...

Without testing kits, there is not strategy other than isolation (until vaccine in 18months)

You cannot even have players play without fans unless there is rigorous testing done.

If players play in isolation from fans they will need to be tested daily and quarantined away from other players for even the slightest signs.

But without testing any plans of returning to normal society is a dream.
The longer we go without testing the more people will die.

Seems federal government strategy is to hide the numbers by lack of testing....

The resources and people power needed to do that can be utilized in savong lives. Sports on TV is a very selfish need and should be completely shutdown. Welcome back Briggs.
