With the way Frank played tonight and with the way his play has picked up recently I have not posted in a while because of the Knicks's refusal to play the kids at least as much as I would like. but as Frank RJ and Mitch continue to grow I can't help be excited. The Knicks have a nice core to build around. Clearly the Knicks need to add to these three.

In another thread by Jskinny Christian Wood was floated as a possibly target in free agency. I can get get behind this. Wood is the anti - Randle. He is a stretch four who can hit the three 37% clip and would help solve the Knicks shooting issues. And while his defense is not great it is certainly better than Randle's. Best of all acquiring him would simply cost cap space and should be relatively inexpensive relative to say signing Anthony Davis.

But the Knicks would need more shooting. I was thinking who would be the player to target in free agency to improve the shooting - enter Malik Beasley. Forget this nonsense about Demar Derozan or Chris Paul, Beasley is exactly the kind of player the Knicks should target in free agency. He is young only 24 in November so he fits the timeline and just like Wood he is a free agent. He is also one of the best Shooters in the NBA. Unlike Wood he is a restricted so Minnesota could certainly match any offer. But if I am the Knicks I would give him the max or close to it and force The T Wolves to match. If they do so be it. But if not The Knicks have their shooting guard. a starting line up of:

Mitch
Wood
RJ
Beasley
Frank

would certainly be exciting.

Of course this would all be contingent on who the Knicks get in the draft if it is Anthony Edwards for example they may not need to do this. However the Knicks are playing a lot better and at this point probably will not land high enough to get Edwards.

Why would the Knicks give a close to max to someone who averages 11 points a game?

Have you seen Beasley's numbers in Minnesota? He is averaging 22 PPG on 43% from three actually close to 44%. The guy could not get consistent playing time in Denver which explains the lower numbers on the Nuggets. But this guy could always shoot and shoot at an elite level when given the minutes. He is showing out now that he is getting playing time in Minnesota.

Saying the Knicks should max him out may be aggressive but the point is the Knicks should make Beasley an offer that as the great Don Corleone would say he can't refuse and one the T Wolves would be unwilling to match. The money would certainly be better spent on Beasley than giving it to declining players like Derozan or Paul.

Shootings been great, but his +/- has been horrific. Also his defence is meant to be bad (which is why he didn't get too much burn in Denver)
