maybe. He's a nice role player and brings good things but his impact overall is pretty average and I prefer to develop young guys. I think it depends on the draft and potential other FAs.

Lets say we draft BPA and ends up with a couple sweet shooting wings
Deni Avdija (pick #4) 6'9 SF (international)
Tyler Bey (pick #25) 6'7 SF from Colorado

Then NO. I dont want Harkless. I want those guys and Kevin Knox fighting for minutes at the 3... but who knows.

Also we have Bullock at the 3 as well who has looked very good for stretches. I think he and Harkless are very redundant in the big roster picture IF we draft 3.

If we end up with other spots and its Knox/Bullock on the SF depth chart I would give Harkless a 1+1 for a stop gap. Sure

too soon to say. I am not against keeping him. But I don't think he's good enough to blindly commit a spot in March

he's like Trevor Ariza- everywhere he goes, he helps his team win, without stuffing stats.

Unless we're bringing Morris back, I'd keep him. He isn't super old and can contribute positively without scoring. We should have enough scoring elsewhere.

Even if we pick up a SF in the draft, as we have seen with Knox and even Barrett, these young 19 year old kids aren't ready to contribute day 1.

He probably wants to be here, and we could probably lock him up on a nice long term, team friendly deal that we can always move if needed.

Obviously we have no idea how the summer turns out.

On this Houston game alone I don't want Morris back. Just takes away shots and team focus away from RJ and others.

Well said. He just does good things on the court. He seems to have good chemistry already with his teammates.

i loved morris - didn't want to trade him - wanted to keep him long term.

But if RJ can take the next step, and if we can somehow add some legit firepower to the backcourt with a VanVleet type signing, then keeping Moe makes a ton of sense.

If Bey develops a consistent 3pt shot. He could be an ideal 3&D forward. Him and Nesmith peak interest in this range.

With that said, there seems to be a decent amount of forwards available in FA as well. Very possible they look to key in on guards at the draft and net the forwards in FA. Though stealing Dragic from the Heat on a 2 yr overpay rental could maybe buy the Knicks a little time.

I too give Harkless performance the Trevor Ariza hustle award.
Each game Harkless played as a Knick his high IQ performance says extension, plus his 2-Way hustle performance in the 4th quarter says KEEPER. Since Harkless arrive our 2nd season Knox performance has been showing great hustle on both sides of the court not looking lost on a lot of plays anymore.
Bullock gets the DNP bench treatment the rest of the season to give Harkless as much playing-time to become a KEEPER !!!

Not sure Deni is ready to start contributing next year. Also, if you can't beat out Mo for minutes, than you're probably not ready for an NBA rotation. I'd still like Mo back on next year, regardless of who we draft. That said, I wouldn't pay him more than the mid-level.

Harkless simply makes other players better. He's never had high scoring but he was a big part of the Portland teams and the Clippers had him starting near all their stars for a reason. Now we are seeing it. This summer there will be many free agents forced to take minimums (or close) because virtually no teams have cap room at all. Harkless is young at 26. I can see him being here as a building piece (As opposed to other vets brought here to hold spots/mentor youth.) That would be the greatest kicker out of the Morris trade. If Harkless stayed on and grew with the Knicks. If it's a steal because no one else can pay him, I'd say bring him back. Queens Represent!

Deni is playing pretty well with grown ups which says something IMO. Lots of NBA types on that roster and league. I like that alot about him

Like Avdija. Could be the next Domcic but of course could also be the next Herzonga. Did not like how he has moved up the boards. Like Bey. Think he will be in the 10 to 15.

As we know, this will all change drastically once we get to March Madness and drat combines.

I like Deni too. But he has holes. I haven't checked his shooting in a bit, but it looked inconsistent. Also, where do you play him on D? He's kinda weak and he doesn't look like he can keep up with wings. I'm not saying this to crap on him, just trying to set realistic expectations. I'd still take him if we fall out the top 5.

he's a good role player. Its all about cost and roster. The whole blue collar thing is fun when you are backing up stars. Much less impressive when you are not.

something in between could be pretty good!

All I ask for is a due draft process. Look at every guy and please consider attitude and team play as part of "talent" and pick the guys you like the most.
