Did you just say you wished Luka an injury plagued season next year? A suspended work visa?

I'm not NOT saying that

My fear is we'll blow it by trading some of those picks to 'win now' under Thibs (also ruining our own lottery pick)

So now we have Thibs, does it change who we're likely to draft or will Rose just tell him to STFU and let the new scouts do their work?

For several months we have been throwing names like Ball, Haliburton Wiseman for the knicks selection. Now that Thibs is the coach, any chance they would go after a more defensive minded player like Okoro for the lottery pick?

3 names I thought of the moment Thibs was hired:

Isaac Okoro, a strong, athletic wing who is arguably the best defensive perimeter player in the draft.
Devin Vassell a 3 and D wing with lots of potential.
And believe it or not, Cole Anthony. Thibs has a history with scoring pgs ( Rose and Teague).

I think Okongwu is also meant to be a good defender

Thibs is like that coach ball had in Greece, intense, in your face, no nonsense. I don't know if his early experience with him will do him well with thibs. Lamelo does seem much more mature during his stint in the NBL vs his high school stint. Maybe seeing Lonzo struggle in the early stages of his career was a wake up call to him.

I'm resigned to us picking 7th or 8th and also trading for CP3, so unfortunately don't think we'll get to find out!

Fortunately we seem to have hired a bunch of analytics types during the offseason to do our draft scouting, so maybe Thibs will have very little say over who we draft.

I fear that also. But keep in mind its no secret those picks are of higher value because its a rich draft potential. Thus they should yield more return.
I love the idea of the knicks being a future developmental juggernaut and using a “Yankee baseball” model to build a minor system to fuel positions and trades.

We still don't have a guard shooting at a decent 3 point percentage. Three defenders and no shooter (oops, almost forgot Mitch) is not what we should be looking to roll out the ball to, unless they're tanking for '21.

All i can think about is Ball, Haliburton, and Topplin. The 3 CAA guys who all fit a role here. I think we draft one of these 3 players but i agree that Cole Anthony is the ultimate wild card. Does anyone know who his agent is?

Corection: Ball left CAA for Roc Nation, so not sure how that impacts things going forward.

Leon just stacked his staff with some nerds and your prevailing theory is that he will pick based on players' representatives?

To what do we owe this conclusion?

Some NBA executives think that there might be a number of teams looking at selling their first round picks! Im not sure i would want to get another 1st rounder but maybe package the clippers pick to move up a bit to get a player we really like.

If we can move up 5-10 spots higher for the clippers pick, which player is worth doing that for?

Patrick williams? Saddiq Bey? jalen Smith? paul Reed?

Or should we keep the clippers pick and just buy another 1st rounder that becomes available?

Will it be wiser to use the roster space and cap space for an additional 1st rounder or spend the cap space and roster spot in free agency?

I think the Warriors might be willing to sell theirs (or at least trade it for a lower pick or future pick), crazy as that sounds- big financial problems for most teams, and they are way over the tax

How would you Rank the following (and which would Thibs like):

He looks very small to me and hasn't been spoken about much on the thread. Shooting numbers are terrible- any fans on here?

Is he better than Okoro?

What's Nesmith's defensive potential?

Seen a lot of tape on all the above. Vassell is the best all rounder. Nesmith is a personal favourite dude can flat out shoot which would drastically improve the games of the majority of our roster. And he has defensive potential but not elite potential like Vassell. Okoro kinda a defensive specialist just think he’s too one dimensional for the nba.

Thanks! I liked watching the highlights of Vassell the most of those three players, but I’m intrigued by Nesmith- do you think he’s a legit shooter or was it a fluke this season?

Yes it’s early but here’s the 2020 NBA draft thread.
