Draft Order: Knox, Mikal, Shai, Miles

So I took the next three players drafted in the class and it looks like Knox is the worst prospect so far considering his weakness on defense. Mikal has been unimpressive offensively but might be the best defensive player of the bunch and fits into that role-player category. Otherwise Miles and Shai are outperforming the slightly younger Knox offensively. Knox was kind of a boom/bust prospect, is he leaning towards bust? Did we draft the wrong guy or will Knox improve?

IMO Numbers like these are overrated because it doesn't take into account the players role on the team, the roster around him, the coach, the system, the touches.

I’d rather we’d drafted SGA (11th) or Devonte Graham (34th!), but it’s early days for Knox. Biggest problem was landing so late in the draft, if we’d landed top 5 we could have got Trae Young, Doncic or Jackson Jr, and our future would be much brighter.

my god the kid's a 20 year old 2nd year player. He was drafted as a project because of his size and athleticism. What we know after a year and change is he's a legit NBA athlete, has a nice shot which he can get off very quickly and is a good kid and hard worker. He has not lost any value and is still a good prospect. He shows plenty of signs he can be an impact player. Or maybe he's the next Tim Thomas. Who knows... nobody does now tho

Knox is really really young. He passes the eye test on the outside shooting, it's just not going in consistently yet. He has a role in the league as a 3pt shooter and finisher. I fully expect him to get into the 38+ percent range from 3 soon and if he does that he will be a quality role player at the very least.

Among nba small forwards, his real +/- is next to last in the league.

why does everyone dump on Tim Thomas! Because I'll be happy if Knox turns into Tim Thomas 2.0.

12 years in the league.

21,000 minutes played
9400 points

Look - I'd love for Knox to turn into a far better player, but he could be out of the league in 3 years as well - and that would be worse.

Just like in baseball, you need guys that can give you innings.

He will be better once he fills out into what he truly is. Which is a stretch PF who could put the ball on the floor some. Right now he is a tweener who isn't quick enough to guard the perimeter and isn't strong enough to bang in the paint consistently. He is more likely to build up his strength than develop more quickness. His wing span is pretty long as well which can help him in the paint with added strength. But he has tools to be a pick and pop forward with a face up game over time imo.

Something between Timmy and Kevin Love... He will never intimidate anybody.
But he may become a great complimentary shooter.
I think he is right where we drafted him. Can be later traded for similar pick.

its not a dump at all. I remember TT very well. The same questions followed him around everywhere: how does a guy with that size and skill only give you 12 and 5 a night?

Guess what... TT was a 7th pick also. Everyone thought his size and shooting would make him an amazing inside outside scorer. Simply never happened. He was a role player. He was OK. Had a decent career. Those guys are ultimately judged by their teams and if they hit big shots in the playoffs. Nothing wrong with having home grown guys. Not everyone is a star. I hope Knox is a higher impact guy. Thats all.

I have seen him make some pretty sick plays. He's pretty explosive. If he gets better, especially in the paint he can rain in down on you.

What Fiz did to Knox last year likely caused irreparable harm.

I am seeing enough from Knox where I have hope that he will develop. Some guys like LBJ look like they could be your dad by the age of 18. Some guys shed their baby fat in their 20s. I'd put Knox in the latter category. That said man I wish we had drafted SGA. I don't find either of the Bridges particularly more impressive than Knox

At some point you have to point to the player... he's doing the work but he's missing something in confidence. Knicks found 2 young guys with the same issues in Frank and Knox. Im all for waiting on them, but Reggie Bullock has already put extra heat on Kevin Knox. Team over everything. You gotta play whos better. If Knox wants to play he needs to prove it

Knox is getting better, wouldnt call him untradeable. I wouldnt trade him for a role player. Believe we've seen enough to be patient. A more structured offense is helping his game IMO. Playing him at the 2 didnt help Knox find his role.

If Knox played with Oubre's aggressiveness, he'd be a borderline future allstar....

Knox is still very young and already between year 1 and year 2 you can see the difference. Year 3 when he develops even more strength and stamina, he will get more mins. I think if he gets 25 mins a night, you will see consistent production. And he's a willing passer...a must in today's NBA. He will be starting before the end of this season, I think.

The problem is we have no star. You can't go 20-62 and end up with a role player. We will be stuck being bad forever if that keeps happening.
