We should have gotten a young starter out of the deal..fck unknown draft picks that have a high % chance of being a role player or bust.

Booker
Fox
Ayton
Tatum
Brown

Are the players i would have targeted

That is a concept that was valid Before he got hurt, before he was walking into his restricted Free agency, and before PHil was fired. Its childish to not consider the reality of the timeline of when he was valuable and how that value dissipated. Thats looks to each window to access his his trade value.
If your going to install hindsight then at least be honest. HIssy fits after he has good games and convoluting the time lines THEN insisting we could have done better is not honest.
Missed opportunities suck. Nobody is denying the REGRETTABLE chain of events.
Yes, we all should have dumped our stocks a month ago.
Should have bet on the Chiefs back in November!
Trump really did not hire the best people.
KP trade looks bad. We have yet to use our picks from the trade or utilize the cap space in a measurable manner. Randle was signed with some of that but he has not moved the dial enough. The Morris assets will be helpful. Maybe we can use the Clippers, and two dallas picks in a blockbuster trade and attach it to the KP trade one day? Until then KP got us and we let it happen.

Don’t insult the knick faithful with thinking Mills could have gotten a great deal. We don’t know what was to happen but there was a worse path. The great trade would have been PHil’s to make.

For the love of sheehit already, he barely played, he never led us anywhere near the playoffs, his idiot brother is drama nobody here needed or wanted, and he's still fading at the end of games.

He set records when he was here, too. If I recall correctly, we never made the playoffs.

Let me know when GOD does back-to-backs.

about as much as kwahi and PG13

One guy has played 25,000 minutes including playoffs, one guy has played 20,000 minutes including playoffs and one guy has played 7100 minutes in his career. KP is in his fourth season that he has actually got on the court and in his fifth season in the league. He has missed 157 games already in his career. George is in yr 10 and has missed 149 games. Lets see how this plays out with KP. He has had good stretches before. He has never sustained them.

+1, for the billionth time

The person rooting for someone else’s failure will never get what they want..

Happy that KP is fully healthy and balling out. Unicorn is back!

Will go down as the worst Knicks trade in history (and the Knicks have made some horrendous trades over the years)

I don't hope KP gets injured but I hope he gets a venereal disease. No one says he isn't way talented but I'm still glad he is gone and it is way premature to judge the trade. And even if it equates to the Bargiani one, the dude is still a tool. Cry a river for the schmuck if you must.

Easily the worst trade. That's hard to argue against

The trade sucked no matter how anyone slices and dices it. Truly, truly sucked. Worst trade this train wreck of a franchise has made in quite some time. We are so jaded and damaged as a fan base we can’t even tell right from wrong. The KP trade was all sorts of wrong. The fact the Knicks even allowed for the KP relationship to deteriorate like it did was bad enough.

The Knicks took one of the most intriguing younger players in the world and turned it into crap. How they got there, why they did it or they had to do it matters not. Fact is, they did it. Brutal.

It was a bad trade because Dennis Smhith hasn't been as advertised and we have no idea what those picks will be yet. You can't show someone a job half done. We don't know what will happen yet so relax. You can't go crazy after every game KP plays well. He played like doodoo tonight if you want to console yourselves. There's that.

KP was 3-17 from the field with 9pts for those still keeping score...

Our team could not handle KP.
We had terrible managers(Mills) worst owner(Dolan) and bumbling support staff.
It’s acceptable to have traded him as I imagine he simply would not workout here long term. We just need to keep that open cap space to our advantage at some point.

It's Courtney Lee's fault! He doesn't make anyone around him better!

Maybe we can rename this thread the "KP/Tim Hardaway Jr trade..."

KP is no doubt receiving benefit from playing with Doncic and makes trade look worse.
Dallas stepped up and made a good move for that pairing. Let’s see how it pans out over the next few years.

KP has a great night? Recency bias is alive and well!
Something doesn't jive with your confirmation bias? Ignore it!

KP was 3 for 17 last night.
0 for 5 from 3pt
Had 4 turnovers
Didn't even manage a single double (9pts 8rebs)

They targeted Donvan Mitchell in a straight up deal and were told no.

DSjr was supposed to be that starter though.

Agreed. Pretty dumb to use ONE game to build a narrative on the worth of a player.

Bias aside.....
7'3" KP is averaging, close to a double double, 19.4 and 9.4 while shooting 47% from the field in his first full year back from major knee surgery. (The one many claimed would end his career). All at the young age of 24.

But some are debating the thread title?

While I agree with your overall point. KP is shooting 42% from the field and is a career 43% shooter. But as Gordan Hayward showed KP could fully recover and have a strong yr next yr after a full season. Time will tell how his story unfolds, he can land anywhere from being an injury prone player to a Steph like development after seasoning over the yrs to become an MVP type. Probably lands somehwere in the middle.

Fingers crossed Dallas lands us at least one lotto picks, but Doncic doesn't seem like he will let that happen.

Will be interesting to see him in playoff intensity/7 game series.
