The skillset is really spot on. Joseph is a top tier defender at PG. He's an offensive liability unless placed next to an elite playmaking/scoring wing. He's never going to score double figures regularly, but in a backup role will go for 8 points, 3 rebs, and 3 asts and shoot the league average from 3pt range. He won't make plays but he will be mistake free and fit in. This is what i see Frank becoming, and i think there's a role for that on our team moving forward. It's interesting i never realized it before, but this is sort of the player he's growing into. For what it's worth, Joseph has signed a couple of good contracts and will stick in the league as long as he would like and be a contributor.

why not just trade this kid for someone better, someone more suited for what we need them for. It's like trying to hold on to a car that looks good, but runs like crap, needs a ton of engine and transmission work..

You need a reliable car to get to work..

This is a rebuilding team so doesn't it make sense to invest in his player development? My point to this thread is he doesn't have high upside, but has a place on this team if we make the right changes and there's an established player in the league he identifies pretty closely with. I was hoping for more of a prime-George Hill or Jrue Holiday type when he first came into the league, but he just doesn't have the scoring mentality needed, which is okay.

you have a better chance praying for world peace and getting it.

Mills have been over paying for role players since day 1

Its funny after the dallas game Rainman had probably his one and only positive post about Frank. I questioned it it was really him or not I guess I know it wasn't lol

I think it's more of a "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" type thing. He is the same player that played in Indiana, he just plays in Sacramento now. Perception is everything.

The same name-calling logic used against Trump is being used against Ntilikina.

"He sucks!" "He's not aggressive enough [tough, tough, tougher]."

Yet the minute Ntilikina is not in the game, opposing players head straight for the hoop with barely notice being given. Or DSJ's cover is parked on the 3 point line as if in his own private space with time for a cup of coffee before shooting the three.

Yeah "he sucks" except the brittle team doesn't have the composure of an AAU team when he's not on the floor.

Yeah he could be our defensive specialist if any combination of other players could ever, ever take a lead long enough to need a defensive specialist.

Is he even 20 years old?

Frank is here at perfect time... when team is not there yet.
He can grow his game as the team is taking shape.
For now he is far in front of the rest of the project with his defense alone.
Rainman wants to see winning basketball form a bunch of junkies. Good luck.

If this was the case why did we draft him in the first place?

If you have a lot of $$$ you can get the best car, new, powerful, and reliable.
If you have nothing you get used car to drive to work while making money to get better one.
Knicks have no assets for a long time already so they take what is available and deal with it.

This is the type of short sighted mentality that makes a franchise stay in the dumps. Problem is not a third year draft picks that have potential and need time to develop. Problem is FO's and fan bases that like to think they have a magic pill for a solution with no intelligent plan or suggestion.

Curious, who would you trade him for? Let me guess, a lottery pick?

Agreed. Look I admit im a Frank fan BUT I have always been fair about his weaknesses. I still think he is far too young and too good defensively to get rid of. Sure he might not be our solution at point guard but its obvious he is still important for us on the floor.

Agreed. But not just Frank. Fans should feel the same about all our young players. Until we get a proven star/stars, the only way to build is with taking chances with young unproven talent. But unfortunately, young players need time and patience to develop. NY is probably the worst place for that. Think 4 years of solid minutes is when you can truly see what their potential is. Problem is, that is too much time for most in NYC.

Frank is not the problem. Yes he needs to be aggressive offensively everyone knows this. Frank is actually giving the Knicks the best chance to win. The team is always in it when he is on the floor and when he comes out the team doesn’t function as well. If Frank can get his offense going he puts the team in a much better position to win. I know it will come happen but I feel that for it to happen a new coach is needed as this current coach really doesn’t have his back and Frank is psychologically affected by Fizdale mishandling.

Frank biggest problem is his offensive game isn't good on a daily bases it comes and goes. If frank can have games like last friday against dallas on regular bases the knicks would be fine.

I love our kids. Mitch might be my favorite player along with RJ. Ive always liked kevin Knox and feel he has taen a big step forward. Obviously his defense needs to improve. Dotson has also been a favorite of mine. I admit I was never a huge fan of DSJ coming out of college but im really rooting for the kid. Ever since he was traded Ive been 100% behind him.
