Alan Hahn says that if the Knicks are going to make changes then knicks should consider guys with blood in the ground who understand NY. He think Mark Jackson and/or JVG are the only options.

I agree with him. I want JVG. I'll even take Action Jackson if he brings JVG with him.

why not Mike Woodson or Jason Kidd then too?

personally hoping we avoid Jackson and JVG. Former wasn't that good with a stacked GS team (+16 games just by a coach change) and the latter is a quitter

I think Jackson and JVG have less of an understanding of current NBA offenses than Fiz. At least JVG still coaches for USA basketball, so I'll give him that. Jackson offenses in GSW were crap.

Reggie Miller or Becky Hammond.

Both would be refreshing in a radical way that would insulate Dolan and the FO from the inevitable fallout.

And by the time the change comes this year will be over. Otherwise, Fizdale continues to limp along.

Mark Jackson would be a huge mistake. Another talker with a bad history.

In fact, let me double down on Miller or Hammond. If its true that Dolan is dissatisfied with Perry and Mills then its in their best interest to make a splash with the next coach. The effect you would be looking for is a NY sensation. What better way to do that than the first female NBA head coach?

OR, just as good, arch-villain, Reggie Miller who can hold his own with everything NY can dish out riding in to save the day. The MSM will love/hate it in daily headlines. Its all entertainment, baby and tickets would skyrocket.

Who said the head coach has to know everything, that's why you hire special assistants who are really good at something.

Every good coaching staff has top rated assistant, every coach on Fiz staff (with the exception of mike miller) were horrible in their previous jobs and were all fired from multiple jobs, especially Keith smart who was fired 3x.

Why would you even consider reggie miller(another in experience person), who hasn't even coached JHS basketball, becky is cool, but she's not ready.

Appeasements never work out well. That is what Perry was after Phil. And now you want to do the same sorry but this time Dolan and his cronies need to do their homework and please no wacky half baked plans.

I don't think its wacky.

Its certainly unconventional, I'll grant you that. But examine the facts.

If Fizdale is fired it means the record is like 4-16 in a week or two. AND, this media firestorm will go Nova from a hot seat to a runaway dumpster fire.

Even if Mills and Perry are not now feeling the heat personally, they will be the longer this process is drawn out.

So they need a new point of interest and that can't be a wimpy, "Have patience... yada yada... here's a safe new coach with no personality inheriting a bonfire without a sprinkler system."

They need to make a splash, a big one.

So what's in it for Dolan. He doesn't mind the FO per se but KNOWS that Fizdale isn't working. Secondly, the Knicks need fans and they need headlines - good, bad, indifferent is of no consequence.

Hire a Hammond and he suddenly looks like a progressive reformer. Women start buying tickets, ESPN STFU, and so on. Everyone forgets about the FO, Dolan, and the season was shot anyway...

Or hire Reggie Miller. He's going to talk his way into the headlines, the team WILL WIN, the Knicks will be on the national sports chains A LOT. The NY Sports media will salivate and papers WILL SELL.

In both cases, Dolan says to any potential buyer to add an additional B to the current value of the team.

Questions?

yes we are new yorkers and we're better than other people

but understanding NY has nothing to do with success here

being better than is all that matters

"Action Jackson"....I don't remember him as being called that. Phil Jax I thought was. Thus, I thought you wanted "Phil".

Wouldnt mind JVG, as a defensive coordinator, so to speak, but not Mark Jackson. This would feel like a typical, win the backpage move. Something to distract the fans. Jackson ran an ISO heavy offense, thought we were getting away from that. Other reasons as well. Would rather see us take a chance on an asst. Wouldnt object to Becky Hammond, as suggested upthresd, or another asst. If Fizdale is fired by the all stsr break, Mike Miller might earn another season. That would be the best way for things to happen, if Fizdale is out of the picture.

I thought the helicopter was his 360 one handed dunk?

Mark Jackson & JVG wouldn't respond to a text or call from Dolan's Knicks.
I'm not sure JVG or Mark want to take on such a big burden as the Mills/Perry rebuilding situation.
Plus Dolan has never showed any love or gratitude toward any of the winning Knicks .. Ewing and Mark were willing to become a Knicks coach back in 2008, its over a decade and the Knicks are worst than they were back then,
I'm sure ex-Knick player Oakley & Starks could probably coach a better winning season than any of the Knicks past 5 head-coaches.

I don’t have the time to listen so this is based on the op’s post. Hahn needs to be more responsible. I love both of those guys as Knicks but I don’t think either is a good fit at this time. Seems like an attempt to be provocative but again I didn’t listen so this is totally out of context. MJax left the Warriors with a lot of baggage and hasn’t sniffed a coaching job since. The game is very different from when Jeff coached and was successful. Not sure he could transition smoothly to the way the game is played today. I would root for either guy but Hahn picking them as the guys that need to be hired is a stretch.

^Hahn thinks we need people that has blood on the ground. Guys that bleed Knick orange and blue. That only people with NY ties are the only ones that were successful with the NY Knicks.
