Could someone provide info on Omar and why he has not found his way (permanently) on to a NBA roster?

If I remember correctly he is lightening quick with a bad shot. And maybe his defense is not that great. With Mark Jackson on the team, I would definitely risk signing this player and let Mark show him the ropes. I mean, who better? And if after a year or so he doesn't work out, there is no big loss, but if he can turn it around you have a player in the mold of Tony Parks of the Spurs.

I think they release him some time around the holidays. I don't seem him on Dallas' Roster page over at ESPN.

...Playing for the Fayetteville Patriots. He has only played 3 games, and is only shooting 30% from the field. Still needs work on his shot.

Cook should have stayed with St. Johns anyway but we should pick him up anyway and let him stay on the IR for as long as it takes. He has the potential and the quickness but his shot ain't there yet.

Another Omar article...

Omar, We Hardly Knew Ye
by Shaun Powell

THEY SPENT an hour watching basketball inside a small gym in Chicago, where dozens of NBA dreamers come annually to impress the scouts. With the draft just weeks away, the action was understandably intense. When the scrimmage was over, Dermon Player, an assistant coach at St. John's, stood and waved goodbye to Marty Blake, the chief NBA scout for decades.
