I hate that these guys are put against each other. They are both young players that are trying to find their way in this league. Never the less the debate is hot!

Based on the UK reactions Fiz is catching hell for not having this sorted out. From the outside, Game one looked like amateur hour. Trier, then Smith, then Frank and panicking.
OR, did Fiz actually find a combo with a comeback that looked reasonable as he adjusted?
Net game a bit better. Ellington caught fire for a bit. Fans doing the "WE shoulda" thing kinda silly. Kyrie is a top guard in the league when healthy.

Is this really just Frank vs. Dennis? You could add Barret, Allen and even Trier to the list of who should be the backup PG. The real issue for me is that DSJ's game play has been trash and he doesn't look right physically. Maybe the answer to who should be the backup PG changes from game to game? If that's the case, I think Fiz needs to do a better job of recognizing the appropriate matchup.

Agenda driven. This is not DSJ vs Frank. It’s Perry vs Phil. The sad part of all this is that favoritisms is winning out at the cost of winning. As soon as the Knicks management can come to grips with losing the KP deal the better.

Another thing is we have a crack pot for a coach likable as he might be but he can’t coach for shyt. You know coaching LeBron James, Wade and Bosh is the equivalent to staying at a Holiday Inn.

I agree with this. Last night should have been Frank as the backup. He plays well against Kemba and Smith isn’t right. Not sure it would have changed the outcome but Frank seemed like the obvious choice last night.

You make fair points. I do think Fizdale is well liked but he isnt an Xs and Os coach. He has no system that he has implemented. He seems to like positionless basketball but all i see is ISO and no ball movement. Also he gives way too many players the green light to shoot whenever especially from downtown. As a coach you need to recognize that

Its not a debate right now. Smith is hurting the team the way he is playing right now. He has been getting cooked by every PG he has guarded. He doesn't look anything like the explosive player he has been the last 2 seasons.

He shouldn't be getting booed though.

I don't know if he is lighting up practice which has made Fiz feel confident that he is getting back on track. But he can't keep running him out there until he gets right.

At the same time, if the offense isn't gonna have more structure in it. Then Frank is destined for failure offensively as well.

Both DSJ and Frank need fresh start.
Both need to go to DL and work on their game.
They both need playing time and confidence building.
There is nobody in this situation who can help them but themselves.

This is sad. If this happened many days ago, it would explain his body language and also lack of concentration when playing.

Makes the booing look even worse.

Agreed.

It also makes Fiz a complete putz if he knew about the situation and still played him. He should have sent him home or just rested his player and let him heal rather than trhwoing him to the wolves.

Excuse me for being cynical, but I think this announcement comes at the right time. The kid needs to clear his head and get healthy. He'll recover. He should reach out to Danny Dimes if he needs perspective.

Remember when DRose was here and he had a rough year because of trouble at home. It has a big effect. It may take months for DSjr to re-focus on the game.
