Obviously football is an incredibly violent game played by increasingly bigger, faster, stronger players. It is interesting to me that some QBs seem to be able to navigate that and survive and stay on the field like a Tom Brady and Eli Manning.

Its about the O-line. Luck didnt have the same kind of protection that Brady and Manning had. Feel bad that Luck put so much of his body on the line to try to reach his goal, and now has to end his pro football career when it looked like he had a good shot this season.

Luck will have a very rewarding post playing career at 29 with his resources, I imagine. So its not all bad news there.

Genetics.

Yep, some people are just more susceptible to head injuries. Just like some people are more prone to knee or back injuries. We're learning more about brain injuries every day and hopefully we can reach a point where they become as minor as ankle sprain.

No genetics involved in being the most sacked QB in the league. Takes its toll. Brady/Manning had much better protection.

That too. The Giants O-Line had been crap for year now tho...pocket presence counts for a lot. Some guys have an instinctual ability to move just enough to minimize damage. But I also believe genetics play a part, like it does with pretty much anything.

Give Luck Brady's O-Line, and I dont believe we would be having this conversation.
