so....lakers have cap room by trading away players that no one really wants. really, why would the wizards do that move? it seems like the league purposely direct action for the lakers to get one up on everyone else . draft, trades and now this and the knicks always get hosed on their deals with nothing but hinderance from the league and other teams. frustration is boiling over

They have been gifting the Lakers for like forever. It was well known the owners of the franchise in the past all wanted the Lakers to do well for revenue purposes. This was back in the days when rating and NBA basketball was down.

The Lakers has a 9% chance of getting the 4 pick. Nola had a 6% chance of getting Zion. The draft results allowed the AD trade to finally happen and saved the Pels. Lebron is probably back in the finals and Nola gets to keep its team. The chances of these things happening randomly are almost impossible.

I read somewhere that LA was going to get nailed for tampering with AD, Lebron specifically. THe draft was fixed so that NO would get Zion as a replacemnt for AD and to keep it all on the hush. NO accepted the payoff.

Makes sense to me. Ratings without Lebron were down, I am sure. A superstar Trio in LA makes them relevant again and in contention this year esp with GS down. No way HOuston beats LA.

Chances are about 1 in 184

or 00.54%

Could be more than a coincidence, but why does the NBA want the lakers to thrive and the knicks to remain in obscurity? We had the best odds to win the draft twice over the last 4 yrs and ended up 3rd and 4th. Why?

Everybody wants to see the knicks back on top, it's the biggest market in the world..

maybe if frank was as talented as Lonzo, or knox was as talented as Ingram, or dotson could shoot like Hart. We are just not good at taking the young talent we have and leveling them up..

We can't keep blaming others for why we are a bad team, and thinking their some conspiracy against the franchise..

Also, the NBA vetoed Chris Paul going to the lakers...that didn't help them at all...

You are very right. The Knicks have never invested in their young players. They neglected development for years never trying to create a star player. Even when they have a player that is productive and shows Star like abilities they find a way to trade them away for some shiny penny.

Wizards paid a little over a million for a 2nd round pick and two possibly useful back end players. Wagner could develop into a useful Stretch 5. Unsure what Bonga can be, but he and the third guy are disposable contracts. Wagner is entering his 2nd year, so the Wizards can cut loose with him after the season. Given their cap situation, they gave up little, kept much of their cash allotment issued to every team to balance out trades/buy out international contracts, etc and got some useful parts.

Market value for a 2nd round pick is probably about 2-4 million depending on the placement of the pick. If Wagner pans out a little, he's a former 1st round pick so the Wiz have solid team control with him for a good clip.

It's a solid move to be honest.
