This is going to be such a young team having another developmental guy on the bench is a great move. Maybe he is the next Nick Nurse. He spent sometime working for the Spurs so maybe he can help Frank figure things out.
I think Frank's two big things are obvious. He needs to be healthy and he needs to play in an offense with structure. If those two things happen next year I fully expect him to be a contributor next year.If we actually got luck with some bigtime FAs a healthy Frank is probably one of our better roles players today. We know his handle is solid as is his passing and court vision and his defense is good.
I hope Frank does get sorted. Players with his size and skill set are so crucial. Obviously he's got to hit the 3 at a league ave and stay healthy. Start there
Frank's biggest issue is still his level of confidence, and tentativeness.
I'll be honest- did not see a ton of structure or system to our offense last year. There was a lot individualism going on. Maybe Fizdale just needs more time with a younger team. At Miami and Memphis he was working with experienced players, and at Miami, in particular, the stars pretty much ran things, even though they had a good head coach.
Maybe Miller can bring a little Spurs unselfishness here, but it all starts with the head coach.
Does Fizdale have a good rep with players because he is personable and just tells them to go out there and do their thing, or is there something else about him that I just didn't see last year which made him a desired coach.
If Frank needs structure, he might just have to get it somewhere else. I think Fizdale likes guys with scoring mentalities who make passes off of their attempts to score, not within a system.
I liked our draft a lot, but Barrett, Hinton, and Iggy are all aggressive offensive players who seem better off with the ball. Will be interesting to see how Fizdale molds these young players- hope he can.
