Assuming Kyrie goes to Brooklyn, kemba stays with Charlotte, but KD agreed to come here (I'm starting to have big doubts that he will!), and we then had to execute an AD trade that sent out most of our young guys, it would leave us with a big chunk of cap space and needing a PG. So in that scenario who would you want us to target?

I think Ricky Rubio (current salary $14mil) would make a lot of sense- can distribute the ball between KD and AD, play some defense. Very good passer too. Problem is his shooting ain't great. utah already told him he's not their priority and he said he wants to go somewhere where he'd be happy. If I remember correctly he wanted to be a knick back when there was a chance we would draft. He's 28 and averaged 12.7pts 40%FG, 30 %3PT (urgh) 6 Assists in 27.9mins

The other alternative would be Pat Beverley (current salary $5mil), who's 30, but a superb defender and better 3pt shooter. Not as good a passer though. Stats for this year: 7.6Pts 40% FG 39.7 %3PT 3.8 Assists in 27.4 mins

Both seem to be quite injury prone though.

I think with KD and AD we don't want to fall into he same mistake we had when we had Amar'e and Melo (no PG), so I'm tempted to go for Rubio for his passing. However I do like the idea of a defensive terror lineup of:

PG- Beverley
SG- Green
SF- KD
PF- AD
C- DeAndre Jordan

Plus I think Pat would be cheaper and still leave you change to go after Morris or Green, or whoever, so you could also have a lineup of:

PG- Bev
SG- Dotson
SF- KD
PF- Morris
C- AD

Like them both for different reasons. With KP, I would have leaned toward Rubio for the international commonality and unselfish nature of his game. Now that we may have KD coming and drafting RJ - I'd def lean toward Pat Bev for the defense and ability for him to play off the ball a little. Could see Bev getting some of the tougher guard matchups as RJ learns how to defend at the NBA level. They're both also much cheaper then the Kyrie and Kembas (who I'm not big fans of even at a similar cost), and we could probably sign them for shorter time - good call!

I do like the idea of adding Beverley, but I think the clips will probably want to keep him, where as Rubio is probably more gettable. Also it would be nice to finally have a PG who’s a great passer. Having said that, we could offer Beverley the recognition and a starting role (seems recognition is important to him from some of his tweets)

So much we don't know. Like what KD is thinking and where is Frank? Impressing the hell out of coaches, chilling out to get traded, or back in France growing.
Beverly is good, but If Frank can be avg shooter he might fill that niche. If Frank is gone as most suspect, then guys like Rubio or and Beverly will be available perhaps as stop gaps. Think is Frank is not gone unless we think we are signing two max guys. If not, are we really ready to give up on him?
Just looking at the logic of it. I get moving him for proven entities or allocating his salary in a more efficient manner. I suppose it don't matter what I or Knicks1248 thinks, its the coaches!

Supposedly George Hill is going to be available. I don't like Rubio. Never materialized

I liked Beverly but not what we need and too old now.

Unless we're trading Smith, Allen, dont see the need for an aging starting PG. Need to find out if our young PGs are worth keeping long term. Cant do that if the minutes go somewhere else.
