this guy was a sleeper pick for a serious breakout season as abck up PG with size. he kind of went under the radar last year but actually had 20 double digit scoring games. that means the wizards have no back up PG right now--they start the season with Kwame on the IF Peeler is suspended as is arenas OUCH

Yeah, so much for those sleeper picks for Washington to make the playoffs. They'll be 9th or 10th, but I don't see them making it.

WASHINGTON -- Washington Wizards point guard Steve Blake will miss the first month of the season after injuring his ankle in a pickup game.

Blake underwent surgery Wednesday to remove a chipped bone from his right ankle and is expected to miss 10-to-12 weeks, which would rule him out of the first 13 games of the regular season.

"It is an uncommon injury, but we expect Steve to make a full recovery," president of basketball operations Ernie Grunfeld said.

As a rookie last season, Blake played in 75 games, started 14 and averaged 5.9 points and 2.8 assists. He was a second-round draft pick after leaving Maryland as the school's all-time leader in assists.

steve blake to me was what the type of player i thought milos vujanic would end up being. similar build, similar appearance, and similar game although vujanic was more shoot first.
