We don’t really need the wins. Wins get you higher in the standings. For us, getting higher in the standings doesn’t mean a better chance of making the playoffs, which in essence is good. Winning means the possibility of a worse draft pick, which we have suffered through before. Stephen Curry would’ve changed our franchise, but « we needed some wins » and selected a pick later.
Media has and will mock us until we build a winner. We are actually getting closer to that, by losing now.

He is gone now.
Rebuilding sounded not far off with a guy like KP. He is gone. Now, more than ever before, do we need the best chance at drafting a possible star in this draft. So the losing is still important even after KP.

Does a team with Zion Williams or RJ Barrett attracts free agents more than without them? You are thinking that the free agent game is our endgame. It will definitely accelerate our ETA, but if we don’t sign free agents, our rebuilding continues the right way. If we don’t have access to the right free agents, we move forward with out young team.

Allow me to quote you in a different order:
“Even if we get a few feel good Ws, odds are we aint crawling out of the bottom three.“
So, why win?
Sambakick wrote:Add if we are so unlucky to be in the bottom three but pick 7th or 6th instead of 5th ... does it really matter?
This is the small detail you need to understand: the worst record can’t get lower than 5th pick. So there IS still an incentive for being the worst team. Considering our lack of talent, being assured of a top 5 pick is too good to pass up for a win nobody will remember.
Unless, of course, it’s a win that cost you Stephen Curry. We remember many of those “character building wins”. See how important they are now?
Don’t get me wrong, I want to win. But right now the only way to win, is to lose.
