AD wants to go now. Lakers will empty the basket.
This is a chess game and I don’t see our move for AD but did we become a beneficiary to make a deal with either NOLA or Lakers to facilitate a deal?
Sometimes there is a nice bonus to do so.
So many variations to a theme for us!11
Not complicated
Lakers have nothing , even in quantity, that NO wants. ( They however might make a deal because AD becomes a rental for any other team)
Knicks very very deeply have nothing NO wants. The best chance to get AD was with Zinger.
In a three way deal, there is nothing the Knicks has that NO wants in an AD trade.
AD and Klutch mention the Knicks because there is no chance in hell that NY can get AD. It's a soft way to generate fake interest from another team and roll soft cover for obvious tampering.
Lakers have quite a few one year deals/expirings so Kanters large expiring doesn't help either.
A three team deal where Zinger went to NO, AD went to the Lakers and some Lakers assets went to NY could have been possible. Maybe. But too late for that now.
THERE IS NO TRADE OUT THERE WHERE THE KNICKS GET ANTHONY DAVIS. NO TRADE. NONE.
I disagree. In many ways, the Knicks have no choice but to trade for AD simply to keep him away from Boston. If Boston acquires AD then no amount of NY rebuilding is going to overcome that kind of juggernaut.
In many ways NY is on the clock. NO wanted no part of the Porzingis Bros circus. They're looking for 8 first rounders (more or less). Frankie and Knox certainly qualify as two. It seems to me Vonleh and Robinson qualify as ballpark first-rounders as well. Let's call that four. Add two Dallas firsts and two of our future firsts (not 2019) and NO has their quota.
We'd need to match taking on at least Hill - we could even take on another player NO wants to shed.
In exchange we'd send Kanter along with some buyout cash.
Throw in Thomas - a money saving $1M obligation next year and NO is making out like bandits in a trade I don't think any other team could match.
For NY, regardless of W/L records and assuming good health, [finally] a box office guarantee for years to come.
No way, NY doesn't put together a package that will be over-the-top.
