It is crazy to me that after the trade most media outlets outside of NY with the exception of the daily news were killing Dolan just as much as the FO....Frank Isola was in his full “string the mutherphucker up” mode on SiriusXM.

Not here to carry Dolan’s water....he screwed up a lot...he can be petty....but that that guy will spend whatever.....whatever it takes to bring about a winner....he put $100 mill on Stats knees when no one would touch him....he gave Phil $60 mill....which hindsight was a collosial mistake....but that allowed us to keep all our draft picks and get KP and get something for him....every one claims rightly so he meddled on the Carmelo deal....why?..Donnie was going to give Masai the whole store...because Dolan steps in and says give him the cash register(Mozgov) too we all tripped...Dolan was not going to let Mozzy stand in the way of his own super team to compete against Riley after Lebron did not come...we have decades of negative history with Dolan.the Larry Brown fiasco.....Isiah fiasco.....Anuche Brown harrasment..forcing Walsh out...who was not great imo...dumping Grunwald....Hands on the Bargani trade...etc....etc

One thing that I will say again...the guy will spend whatever to win...and somewhat true to his word over the past several years he has largely stayed out of things...

I keep hearing the worst owner in sports...hell know...that belonged to Donald Sterling before he left....he spends money crazy...well at least he spends it....have Rob Sargent as your owner...or Viv in Sac town....or even Jordan in CHA....

Now in the aftermath of the KP trade we hear again what top FA will come and play for the worse owner in sports....that is some straight BS.....the fact is that Mills does not know what he is doing at a details level but Scott Perry and team does...and Dolan gave them the power....

I believe that that FA are looking at Mills/Perry....Mills is the corporate mouth piece...Perry is shrewd....almost ninja like...which is good......and Fiz is the ultimate used car salesmen and hopefully with better players will look better....

I forgot who once said that “Cap space is nice...but cap space does not play any games”.....guess what ask Riley in MIA about that and would he want cap space now with an 8th seed team...or the Bucks that will have to max Middleton to the point he will be making more than Giannis....or the number of Medicore teams capped the phuck out...

The thing in today’s NBA is that cap space is its own crypto currency....there are many ways to use it...not just unrestricted but even restricted possibilities....trades for asset acquisition

Even if we get zero this yr FA crop but use the cap wisely and shrewdly we can continue to build something sustainable ....the play of all our rookies will mean something in the years to come...

At the end of the day, if you're moving your franchise player, the most first round draft picks teams tend to get is 2, and unprotected ones are rare. You tend to try for a salary dump too and aim to get a young player. Perry managed to tick all the boxes despite reduced leverage (KP threatening to only sign the QO).

I hated the trade when it first broke, but on reflection its hard to think of another team that could offer all three things and be okay with KP accepting the QO.

I still think we should of held out for that 2023 pick to be unprotected. That or at least only protected through 5. Why a top 10 protected pick converts to a 2nd rounder I have no frickin idea why. Shouldn't the protections drop each year not get stronger.I love how KP complains about the Knicks holding him back from playing this year. He goes to the Mavs and they sit him out. He says he doesn't want to play Center. He goes to the Mavs who are going to play him at Center. What an Asshat

100%...thinking back on Knicks previous GMs who else could have pulled that off...

Also I believe Perry recognized his customer. Reports are coming in saying a lot of teams did not know KP was on the market and the knicks should of turned every stone to look for a deal...

Perry was like F that....I believe they targeted DAL.....no other team was going to get all those boxes checked....DAL wanted KP more because of the Dirk connection and the euroball connection with Luka..right now in DAL they are selling this as the Nash and Dirk 2.0

So DAL seeing KP Dirk like was going to check all of those boxes regardless because KP had more than just immediate on the court value....they were going to market the $hit out of this...

Perry recognizes this a gives them a crack in completing the deal before the whole story of KP upset with the knicks and threatening the qualifying offer had a chance to marinate....probably the only consession on our side was the second pick protected thru 10....not bad under the circumstances

This. The Knicks did really well. I see the trade as a much bigger risk for Dallas. They only have three picks over the next six drafts. They will have some cap space in 2020 but I don’t believe the free agent pool in that class is close to this years in regards to talent. I think KP signs an extension but they will be giving a lot of money to a guy coming off of an acl that has worn down by mid December every year he has been in the league. It could work out very well for them but they don’t have many options if it doesn’t.

I agree this is very very risky for Dallas. They better hope Janis likes them because judging by what he pulled here i can see KP leaving after signing a QO. Also who knows if his health holds up. Yes they got Luka but they also gave up 3 future firsts and as Knick fans we know how much that can set you back. Im glad we are on the other side for a change

Nalod has used the “Capspace don’t play games”. Often fans are wanting to dump contacts or players without thought to what comes next. Or not.
This deal was consummated quickly but it was quiet. We did read teams were inquiring about him and as quickly we read “Teams I’d not know”. For fans its a puzzle to retrace what happened with KP. There were signs and as much as Rainman pointed to them they were not substantial or logical enough to make sense.
Time and timing won’t be remembered that a deal to seduce free agents. By the free agent season would we have cleared enough cap and if KP is not encouraging others either by direct endorsement or his uncertainty of his own fate here, then it would not have been good.

Fans don’t like uncertainty. KP was that and FO made a move that does little to solve that. IT created a huge opportunity. LIkely top three pick and move to two max player and we still have three bonafide blue chipper that one could become an all star.........Smith, Frank and Knox.
Frank can be IGGY, Michael Cooper, or a Dennis JOhnson type. Guys that start on championship teams.

Nothing is solved until KP comes back not with words or videos of him working out, but reall results. IM also thinking knicks might have put the end to video access for his documentary return thing. Little good comes out of those things.

I hope he succeeds and in fact KNicks-Mavs finals in two years would be great. This about knicks moving forward not about Dallas. Did anyone care what Denver did with themselves after Melo was gone? It was about him on the knicks. Sure we all want to win a trade but KP blows his other leg out and knicks miss on Free agents makes really no big deal.

I’ll root for Dennis Smith because his success is aligned with us.

My instincts (they are usually wrong) tells me knicks have some feedback that money for two will be a good thing. If it does not come to fruition then I’ll deal with that then.

I will mentioned this too but don’t be surprised if we throw money at a restricted player and the controversy that will come to that. Hardaway type thing. Just preparing.

Knicks are high drama entertain off court stuff! Interesting days indeed. I’d rather it be on the court but this is fun!!1

I wish Dolan would buy the Mets from the Cheapons. He would spend Yankee, Red Sox, Dodgers type money if he owned the Mets.

Dolan has some Steinbrenner in him....if baseball had a cap the Yanks would be the Mets and the Mets would AAA farm team
