Knox has played absolutely terrible so far this season. You haven't spent even 1/10th the amount of energy used when you were knocking Frank last season. Dating back to his own ankle injury in the preseason.

Knox has looked like a "low IQ, ball jock, AAU player with lazy defense". If we were to equate the generalizations, bias and prejudice views between Frank and Knox.

They are also both 2 of the youngest players in the NBA. Knicks could have gone after older rookies like Mitchell and Miles. They went after the boom or bust potential. Would make no sense to take players this young and this raw if they aren't committed to long term development and the supreme lows of developmental prospects.

Knicks have made their choices. They need to follow through.

It is not optimism, its pragmatism.
Drafted players outside of first 4 picks (and sometimes even this) are a material that needs to be worked on.
And it is human material so variance is huge.
Average development window is 4 years. A bit shorted for players drafted after college.
We have a couple of players who are at the end of the development window and 4 players at the very beginning of it.
Bit writers are just reporting on progress of development and also on the side of it which can be publicly seen.
So, yes, this and this player rookie still sucks. So what?

Fact is, Frank an Knox are playing as they are and scouts if true would not be lying to say they are soft and not looking good.
What is not being said is what can't be said: when do they stop growing and start shaving? Is Fiz and staff at they end of their rope with Frank? Where are they with Knox?
In the end the scout is not incorrect in the immediate assessments. Just part of the story.

As ussual, will not read any Berman articles. Did he mention what his favorite donut that he uses as toothpaste? Or how his See Food diet ia going? Or if he has broken his 10 big Mac in one seating record? Or why he mumbles so incesively.

This fool is just feeding the unrealistic no life New York fan division who kniw nothing about basketball or athletics.

Frank should not be traded. Has shown good signs. Dont understand the urgency to give up on the kid? Yes I wanted Smith or Mitchell. Who cares. For anyone that has coached at any level, you can see the improvement he has made and the lessons Fiz is trying to teach. The impatience is underatandable for a fat ugly reporter who is frustrated covering successful athletic people and who only has a belly to boast about.

As for Knox, he has played how, many NBA games? Oh wait....hiw many gamea since he graduated High School? Hopefully the front office iant this stupid.

Knox too much AAU but Frank is not enough?
Calipari if reading between the lines might not have thought he was ready to move to the NBA. Bottom line is if you go top 10 you go? Quarter of the season in the bag and we have his trajectory figured out? Im not buying that either.
Frank's play has declined when we deviated from what Fiz was doing earlier. This helps Mudiay and Trier's game. Three game streak does speak for itself but does it move the franchise forward.
What we did or didn't do with Reezy or any other player in a previous regime does not matter as all the characters are different. I just don't want to see us dump Frank and watch him go on for 15 years having a productive career elsewhere. Naturally "Winning" would take the sting out of that. If I can get over "Willy", I can get over this.

Dude, its not denial as it is fans hoping for a good thing. You or I have no decision capacity here. If Fan wants to be hopeful that's onething. Why are you so hell bent on "being that guy"? You know, the "guy" that gets to say "I told you so"? Over and over you bash the guy which is your prerogative but its not like your doing anyone any favors by helping them. Its not an "Intervention" were your helping someone see the light. We like Frank's defensive acumen and have hopes for him. Its part of being a fan. No, you can't take that from people no matter how many times you try.

who said I told you so,

I was just as optimistic as you were in the beginning with frank, after watching him play for 3 months, I started noticing how passive he was, then i search online for every single EURO scouting report i could find, I watched all of his Euro highlights on youtube, Then I watch JH begging and pleading for him to push the pace, push the pace, we're down 10 with 5 minutes to go, and I watch him do this over and over and over again , I have watched games where im just fixated on frank trying to figure out WTF he's doing.

The things i was saying last season about him needing to play in a half court system (spurs/memphis) with a few stars, a few scorers in a smaller role, was not a knock on him. It was said by every scout that scouting him. He has a certain style he prefers to play at, a certain pace, you're trying to force him to be something he is not, like your afraid to move on if he doesn't fit the bill.

We have been debating about a kid who is probably the worse offensive guard you ever seen in a Knick uniform, cmon dude, when did you become a knick fan? it's been 30+ yrs for me.

The Phoenix Suns are among the teams who have reached out to the Knicks to express interest in Frank Ntilikina. When PHO contacted NYK earlier in the year, the Knicks said they weren't open to moving Ntilikina, per ESPN sources. Members of the Suns organization were intrigued by the idea of pairing Ntilikina, the No. 8 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, with Devin Booker, sources said.

Since we knew they were both projects when they were drafted we should probably be patient. Missing shots or not knowing how to find your game seems normal for young players - that does need time. My main concerns are Knicks mgt expectations/patience, the "fit" and the hunger/motivation piece... Knox had the same criticism before he was drafted and Frank seems like a deer in headlights much of the time. The style/way Knox plays currently does not seem like a good fit next to KP (regardless of if he hits his shots). Really thought the Mikal Bridges would have fit better (3 and D). Frank's ceiling looks like a Nate McMillan type off the bench. If Phx wants Frank to play next to Booker - we should at least listen to what they are offering. Maybe we can score a protected pick and reduce our salary for next season. I feel Frank has about until the end of this season to show some growth or he won't survive NY much longer - hope he does that!

if we are to be relentless:
I have not seen too many 19-20 year old knicks in uniform let alone guards.
I have been a fan for the better part of 48 years! Most knick greats that were drafted (that's a small list) were 22 or older. Its just we hold out hope he'll develop.

His whole arguement against Frank has been rooted in the fact that he is from Europe and not from AAU. But Knox is from AAU and has a year of college. So if we were to claim that Knox's problems stem from his AAU upbringing. Which makes him a low IQ chuck with lazy defense. Then we would sound like Knicks1248.

The fact that he isn't bringing this same energy says all that needs to be said. As this would ultimately distroy the foundation of his critique.

When he got in the [76ers] game, he was embarrassed by [J.J.] Redick," he said. “Redick got loose for two jumpers and then they put him on [T.J.] McConnell and he drove around him. Other scouts tell me he’s a great defender. I don’t see a great defender. He can be disruptive with length, but he’s slow to react. He’s a better-than-average defender, but I think his confidence is shot on offense. His passes aren’t doing anything."

If this idiot of a scout had bothered to simply look at some video tweets from KnicksFilmSchool on Frank's passing and defense, he'd know better. So ONE scout thinks he's soft and ONE scout (probably the same one) thinks he just a 'better than average defender'...well doesn't that mean that the majority of other scouts look at him in a more positive light? Why does this ONE anonymous scout's opinion have so much value over the combined opinions of all other scouts? SMH.

But will Berman ever mention that...no, coz it doesn't sell papers.
Maybe this is Shrek's attempt at getting back at Fiz for calling him out.

Has Frank regressed over the last 10 games, yes sure. Does he need a pep talk...maybe...maybe not...he does seem to have thick skin. Last year's season showed that when you call him out, he responds with much better performances. Remember the Lakers game, Pacers game, Cavs game?

Dude has the fire and Fiz has seen it, no doubt that Frank will pick it back up. I don't know if it's flu or fatigue leading to the lethargy in the 76ers game (he did get beat badly by Reddick and McConnell...but didn't Mudiay n Hardaway get beat as well..after all Frank didn't start the game when Reddick went off).

Does anyone feel that he can't bounce back after 2 days of rest at home? I think Frank understands the length of the season and how he had to adjust last season...things may be down now for him...but better days are coming soon.

So if one scout(or two) says something negative to you that means that all the rest think positively of him? What evidence is there for that? Noone knows the opinion of the other scouts, so you can't really say they are more positive, the same or more negative. Which makes it silly to say they out weigh the one or two scouts quoted.

Also I didn't see any reports of him having the flu. He hasn't been overworked to be even close to the point of fatigue. That said things have been fluid enough in the PG department for him to bounce back as a PG or other position. But the mental gymnastics to boost him up don't really further that point and almost sound a bit desperate.

thats part of the argument, but the FACT is. he doesn't shoot PUSH THE PACE, penetrate, (let me say this again..15% from 3's in the month of nov 29% overall) 9 FT for the month of NOV, and just 4 layups, in which he made 2 of the 4

You can't be in the NBA with those type of #s..seriously.

What game this year can you look back and say, his elite defense was on display, he locked so and so down (maybe 19 yr old trey young) and the knicks don't want him to spend a second in the G league..

Gotta love the development process..

Great post Hofstra. I appreciate your honesty. I admit I wanted mitchell as well. Dennis smith I wasnt a fan of. But you do appreciate the good things has shown and I agree its way too premature to give up on a kid

Preach it newyork. You are 100 percent on the money. Look every fan has a right to like or dislike a certain player. However his argument basically is building mostly through the draft and youth is a total waste of time and we should just trade them for veterans

The Knicks drafted 18 year olds in consecutive years in the lottery. It would be incredibly dumb to give up on them 1 month or 1 yr and a month into their professional careers. Committing to guys that young is a commitment to rebuilding and investing the time to do it right. Chris Vernon says his stuff and then Berman and the rest of the media pounce. I don't think management is trading either of these guys unless it gets them Durant next offseason.

Agreed crush. Like I mentioned I completely understand if some arent the biggest fans of either that's their right. However just trading either or both so soon is flat out silly

So true .. I thought Perry would have been the lucky camper in the offseason to sign the Spurs HOF PG Tony Parker for a season to lead the Knicks young-core guard rotation this season.

He is not addressing trade rumors, which is ok by me, but at least he is sticking up for his guys.
The Rumors are mostly from blogs, not the beat writers.

Knox does make a good point regarding the Greek Freak. If you look at their stats through the first 16 games of their careers (both at age 19) they are similar.

Freak - 4.9 ppg, .7 bl, .5 st, .9 ast, 3 reb, 50% ft, .32 3 pt%, 49 fg%, 16 mins
Knox - 7.5 ppg, .4 bl, .4 st, .4 ast, 2.8 reb, 70% ft, .32 3 pt%, 33 fg%, 17.9 mins

Freak also didn't play in five games early in his career (not sure if they were DNPs or injury) while Knox missed seven (due to injury).

Wonder if Knicks1248 sees anti frank articles as vindication or soft porn?

As this would ultimately distroy the foundation of his critique.

thats part of the argument, but the FACT is. he doesn't shoot PUSH THE PACE, penetrate, (let me say this again..15% from 3's in the month of nov 29% overall) 9 FT for the month of NOV, and just 4 layups, in which he made 2 of the 4

You can't be in the NBA with those type of #s..seriously.

What game this year can you look back and say, his elite defense was on display, he locked so and so down (maybe 19 yr old trey young) and the knicks don't want him to spend a second in the G league..

Gotta love the development process..

Like I posted up a couple of days ago.
Frank played 53 total possessions against Taytum, Lillard, CJ, & Holiday. He gave up a combined 9 pts over 3 games within those 53 possessions.

Hes trying to find his game on offense. Just like Knox & Mitch. He had a horrible month of November no doubt. Which is why he lost his starting job and has been regulated to bench role. His main problem, which majority has pointed out has been due to confidence. So the question is what are the Knicks doing to build up his confidence? You can't have a kid like Frank display all the confidence he displayed vs Warriors and Nets in his first 2 ever starts at PG with complete games of defense and efficient offense. Then allow him to just lose it all. What is being done to get him going? Knicks drafted him in the lottery. Knicks are rebuilding. So what is the plan to actually work through his issues and build him up & develop him? What is the plan for him when he is subbed into the game to build him up brick by brick?

In your whole reply not one mention of Knox, again exposing yourself.

Not a lot of Luv for Frank or Knox
