I watched the first open scrimmage and these are some of my thoughts. The talent level is much higher than last season. And we're so much younger too. Fiz is already having a tremendous positive impact on the squad. You cannot underestimate the importance of the head coach.

Burke, Dotson, Trier, Allen, Frank, Mudiay, Baker, THJ- The first 3 really impressed me and even Mudiay looked good. I like Allen btw. Baker is always steady. Frank hardly played (injury?) but made a three.

Knox, Mario, Lee, Lance- Knox and Mario are both dynamic players. They will be fun to watch. I want to see them play together which they didn't do today. Let's not forget KP will be back later on.

Enes, Mitch, Vonleh, Kornet- Enes is a pro's pro, a net positive, Mitch Robinson will have big highs and lows, Vonleh isn't bad if he makes threes, Same for Kornet.

You know, the one thing that this team can use, as they mentioned in the video, is an NBA ready backup center who can play defense, pass and rebound. Here's looking at you, Joaquim Noah! If we're not going to stretch him then let's use him.

I think the Knicks should have played Noah. They can always cut him at the end of the season, but if they held on to him, he might have played well and they might have been able to trade him by giving up a second round pick. While I would not want to give up a second rounder, it would be worth to keep that dead money off and the cap.

As far as the team, everyone was decent to solid, except Kornet who looked horrible.

Timmy looked a bit disorganized. He took a lot of bad shots.
Mudiay still has this propensity to forget what to do under the basket and hitting the deck for no reason.
Kanter totally erased Mitch... Dude need a year in D-league. He will be embarrassed too much by NBA PFs and centers.
Kornet is 15th man at best.
The rest of the crew looked OK running back and force with purpose.
But it will be pretty painful season as far as wins and loses.
It will be very few NBA teams who will not be able to explore the weaknesses this young group has.

Dotson and Trier both looked really good.
Same for Knox and Hezonja.
Burke too. Mudiay showed good signs too.
Kornet is only as good as his three point shot.
I couldn't form an opinion on Vonleh but I liked the fact that he made a three.
Frank barely played. Is his knee still bothering him?
Mitch is going to be feast or famine for his first season, but will always be interesting to watch.
