This should be a good opportunity to see how he has improved against solid competition. The games are on the 13th and 16th of September.

Thanks for the note. Looking forward to watching his game this year. He has really increased his strength and apparently, expanded his game.
Really looking forward to a young defensively dominant unit in a year or two.

I thought he looked good in summer league(especially in the second game) until he got hurt. Some need to be more patient since he is still so young and raw. It may take until year 3 or 4 that his offense really blossom. The good news is that you feel confortable with him on the floor with his defense alone

I was hoping Frank would put himself in a situation where he can take more risks with his game, push the envelope. Hard to do that playing for your home country.

Cant blame him for wanting to rep his country. If Frank were playing pro ball in Europe, this would be a good move.

If Frank comes away from this tournament a more aggressive player this time, it will have been worth it. Cant help but believe that Frank needs to mix up his training a little more.

I like it. The more games he plays, the better. I don’t care if his competition sucks, even though it doesn’t. He needs to get a run in and leading a team while being aggresive going to the rim. Is the risk of him getting hurt there? Yes. It’s also there walking to your car. He will be fine.

We talking like frank is home playing video games getting fat.
Its two freaking games and he'll be training maybe a week or two with them?
If he was playing at a street tournament it would be a few games?
If we don't see video do we assume he is not playing pickup anywhere? Do they not play pickup in the training center?
Frank is playing for france and to win to qualify. The kid is a distributor because that what he was asked to do.
Will he be asked to score more? If so, then lets see him succeed or fail at that. If his coach thinks playing perimeter defense and distributing is the path to winning then so be it.
If he is shooting and bricking then im worried.
Remember the beloved "Oak". Did you love his scoring mentality or his defense and rebounding? There are other things to like about a really young player while he develops.
This is the Mecca, act like you know whats up! Didn't knick fans in the garden start the chant "Defense-Defense" many many moons ago? Knicks winning culture under Holzman and Riley was defense based and "Hit the open man"! Knicks are not exactly a long term successful franchise but we did have those two era's. Good basketball play must add up and defense and passing matters.
So for some who can't understand why we fans of this 20 year old its because he is an NBA player, does excel at the highest level but at this time he is not fully developed on offense.
Some of you are standing in judgement over two euro qualifying games? The two summer league games?

Frank is a guy who will definitely expand his game and improve his body each year. The question is, does he have the mentality to put those improvements to use on the offensive end?

I think playing with the French national team would be good for his development. The level of talent might be somewhat lower than the NBA, but when you add the element of nationalism in there, some of these guys play their hearts out for their countries.

I took a peek at last year's French Team - Batum, Fournier, Gobert were among the starters - Thomas Huertel (PG) and Nando De Colo (SG) rounded out the starters.

It'd be interesting to see what type of role Ntilikina can carve out on this roster, especially with another young NBA PG (Okobo, was on the Phoenix Suns summer league team). It seems like most of the players play around 15-25mpg.

Assuming Batum and Gobert play, adding in Ntilikina would make for one extremely long, imposing defensive lineup.

Your still back in the ERA of scores that read 86-79 at the end of the game, where defense was the name of the game. Now if your not putting up a 110 points, you mind as well throw in the towel. yes defense still matters, but not as much as a potent offense. Franks main skills are defense and distribution, but 90% of guards in this ERA of the NBA are shooting hella 3's and taking it to the rack at will.

The guy you should really be excited about is BURKE.

you are simply wrong and evidence backs this up. Phili went from joke to 50 wins because of defense. Celtics took Labrun to 7 games because of defense. Celtics two best offensive players were in street clothes and they might have been the best team in the east because of defense. Raptors got swept cause they didn play defense. Rockets went from good to contender because their defense went from middle of pack to elite.

Once again you either dont watch, dont understand or know.

Burke can really help in the short term, and will be one of the first guys phased out when the Knicks get good. Like Celtics did with Thomas.

Nope. Good defense transitions a high powered offense.
I'm talking about transitioning back and not letting the other team run you off the court.
Length and disrupt the passing lanes.
Im talking about a 20 year old and thinking at least 2 more seasons before I even look at the jury in the eye.

Knicks1248, you can't just look at these things in a vacuum. Frank can't score but if Knox develops as a scorer and we add someone in FA to go along with Porzingis and Hardaway, scoring won't be the issue. Look at Boston, they have a ton of guys that can score, and Horford is potentially their most irreplaceable player. Same with GS with Draymond. It's important to have a piece in the lineup that pulls everything together, the glue. Frank can be that guy. You can get the 110 points per game without everyone being an elite scorer. Ultimately, it depends who he plays along but his skillset has the potential to be extremely valuable.

11 of the top 12 defensive teams in the NBA made the playoffs last season and 13 of the top 15.
8 of the top 12 offensive teams in the NBA made the playoffs last season and 10 of the top 15.
7 of the top offensive teams were also top 15 defensively
6 of the top defensive teams were also top 15 offensively

The defensive teams needed less overall talent I.E Spurs, Jazz, Heat, Pacers obtain the same or more success.

Houston Rockets targeted players like Tucker, Mbah Moute, Nene, to go with Ariza & Capella to surround Harden and the newly acquired Paul who also is a quality defender. Raising them from 18th defensively and a 2nd round exit in a weaker West to 6th defensively and WCF.

Again you try to place more emphasis on something i said matters but not as much, like in the series with the celts and cavs when the fact of the matter was

Won't sugarcoat it: Jaylen Brown and Terry Rozier -- two of the Celtics most important offensive players -- were dreadful offensively. They combined to go 7-for-32 from the field and 3-for-22 on 3s. Rozier took 10 3s and missed all of them. He finished with four points. Four.

Marcus Smart also shot really poorly. One of 10 from the field, missing all four of his attempted 3s.

They didn't say they were dreadful defensively

The celtics play solid team defense, and the team that one scored a 107 points or better in 5 of the 7 games and by the time game 7, the celtic had no offensive power, proving my point that defense can only help so much.

you can't win games when you have dreadful offensive players period

like i just said defense will only get you so far, all of those teams were knocked out and the team with the most fire power won the title.... think about STARKS 2-14 shooting in game 7, and he miss wide open shots, and we were like one of the top defensive teams in the league back then

The celtics play solid team defense, and the team that one scored a 107 points or better in 5 of the 7 games and by the time game 7, the celtic had no offensive power, proving my point that defense can only help so much.

you can't win games when you have dreadful offensive players period

lol "proving your point" that is actually super funny.

As oppose to you who just go by your own theory
