Why we would want to increase the hidden welfare called government jobs?
The biggest waste of our taxes. Most of them can be privatized or eliminated by automation.
And we can use taxes to improve infrastructure, education, and run innovative programs to create wealth instead of wasting money on bunch of useless people to move papers around.
At least we will save more trees.

WTF??? How about some examples of govt. Jobs that can be eliminated by automation. Do you even understand why we have a government? And no the answer is not "wealth creation".🤬🤬

We need government to protect country, law, and order, collect taxes and support citizens not able to work due to age, health, and mental reasons.
It also should be used to coordinate infrastructure project performed by private contractors, finance fundamental science, space exploration, and other strategic projects , cultural and art initiatives, which cannot bring immediate profits and so will not be taken on by private business. This about it. And many of this activities can be also outsourced to private companies and consultants.
The operation of almost all government agencies are extremely inefficient. Multiple projects are going on now to automate operations in most of this agencies.
It is painful business as very little support provided by government employees who afraid to lose their jobs and benefits. But it is inevitable.
We need much less and much more qualified workers and new technologies (specifically IT) instead of bunch of low paid high benefits army of clerks.
US only has 15% of workplace employed by government (much better that Russia - 40%). But I think we can do even better.

Privatization is not always a good thing, and the reason we have many government jobs is due to their nature, they are best performed by neutral government employees. While we can always improve efficiencies, to just make a blanket statement that we have to eliminate federal jobs, is just reckless Trumpism. And none of this explains why these employees cannot get their cost of living adjustment but I can explain it.

Trump is running up a $800 billion dollar deficit this year, they cut tax revenue last year, and he is now giving $20 billion to farmers due to his tariffs. Easiest people to take money from are these federal employees by denying cost of living adjustment. He does not have to go through congress and problably more than half of those people did not vote for him, which makes them perfect targets in Trump's mind.

To your point...

Hours after he launched yet another "direct attack" on workers by canceling a modest pay raise for around two million federal employees, President Donald Trump toldBloomberg on Thursday that he is considering a regressive and possibly illegal plan to use his executive power to hand the rich another $100 billion in tax cuts by indexing capital gains to inflation.

"There are a lot of people that love it and some people that don't," Trump said of the plan, which would disproportionately reward the top 0.01 percent of Americans. "But I'm thinking about it very strongly."

Trump's Oval Office interview with Bloomberg came shortly after the president announced in a letter to congressional leaders that he is freezing a planned 2.1 percent pay increase for federal workers just ahead of Labor Day, claiming that "federal agency budgets cannot sustain such increases."

You expect to be taken seriously but it's not posible for others to do that, because you casually throw outlandish claims that are unsubstantiated. When people ask you for clarity or concrete examples your failure to provide any makes it comical. If you really want to participte in a conversation quit making assertions that you cannot supprt. Policy debate is not philosophical and you hiding behind your half assed world view doesn't make you smart. Policy debate requires an actual understanding of what has happened and is happening, it doesn't matter if you like it or not.

The premise that Private Organizations are somehow efficient is so fukking ridiculous that when people talk about government being inefficent it just serves as misdirection. Don't fall for it. I have worked in private organizations all my life they would make the govt. of Venezuela look like a well oiled machine. And this utter rubbish about government agencies needing to generate profit is also deflection oif the core issues, which is Republicans don't want Government to protect civili liberties and basic human rights. Government's job is not to be profitable that should not EVER be a criteria for measuring its success. Years of Right Wing horse**** has turned the conversation into this rat hole and it's based on premise that doesn't get challenged. Private Organizations are absoluitely inefficient and they survive by fudging the numbers and making themselves look good. Anyone who has worked in a Fortune 500 company knows this. The neoliberal propaganda wants you to think companies should be run with each person doing 5 jobs and receiving half the pay for any one of those 5, with zero legal recourse. This is how they define efficiency.

Government is executive branch of power.
Its efficiency should be in executing the law and protecting the rules of the game.
It is necessary evil which getting more evil if society is stagnated and declined.
Government is not protecting the liberty, Constitution and laws are.
As far as productivity the numbers are almost twice worth in government sector comparing to private companies with publicly traded companies productivity somewhere in the middle.
Why in the world government will hire workers to do anything that can be done by corporations and professional who specialize in this work is beyond my understanding.
Government workers should be proficient is controlling the law enforcement in all areas of life and that's about it.

If anyone needed further evidence of how clueless you are, it's right there. For future reference, Govt. is not a branch of "Power". Senate and House together make up the "Legislative" branch of "Government".
It's their job to create and manage the laws, so yes they ARE protecting or abusing liberty of the people by their actions.
And policymaking is NOT a GAME. People's lives actually depend on it.

Once you get up to speed on even the most basic functions of government try and reconsider your increasingly idiotic positions through that lens.

Donald Trump knows his goose is cooked. The guy rants more about the Russia probe than the media. Everyday is a tweet attacking the FBI or Russian probe. He really thinks he can make it all go away just by bitchin to his base but once the Dems take over the house, it is game over.

I am actually being very patient with you. The reason wr can't discuss the subject is because you don't actually know anything about it. Again on this post you said: The legislative branch is small because it's the courts. This is AFTER I explained what the legislative branch is. Your level of ignorance makes it impossible to have a discussion with you, because your positions are formed on a framework of bad guesses, shallow understanding, right wing propaganda and imaginary crimes against the wealthy.

Again courts are NOT part of the legislative branch. They make up the JUDICIARY branch of Govt.

You can't discuss Govt with someone who doesn't understand even the basic structure or purpose of Govt. Trying to characterize me as
a corrupt politician is beyond lame.

He preaches the privatization playbook so more and more decision making power can be taken away from the people and given to corporations. Like all neoliberals he couches it as an argument favoring efficiency. This idiocy of the corporate view of everything, meaning everything should be run like a corporation is how neolibs have pushed their BS for the last thirty years. You can see the results all around you. Neoliberalism is and has been a failed ideology for years, but it had enough support from the idiot-savants that were converted to it via propaganda that it will take society another 30-40 years to wake up to it.

Still not clear who are this evil "corporations". Are they run by creatures from Mars, Zion Elders, or some other world conspiracy group to enslave and destroy the humankind?
There are people who know how to create and grow wealth of nations and who only know how to use and destroy it.
So power should go to first group for second group to survive and not descend back to the trees.
And when power goes to the second group the nations are indeed destroy themselves and all that was created by hard work of generations.
This is the truth anyone with opened mind can see in every time and every place.

So more voicemail services instead of reachjing an actual person at a gov't agency? What state are you promoting there comrade? doesn't sound like a Scandinavian state

Did I say "evil", NO. You twisted what I said into your one stupid non argument you have made 3 billion times without being able to substantiate it. Now the real data shows more wealth was created when a middle class was flourishing than when power is held by 1% of the population.

To help put a name on in it. Ive posted this before, but it rings even more true today. Some here are defending the status quo, which is defending shareholder capitalism. Which is no better than any other "ism" that has gone off the rails because of rampant (bipartisan) corruption.

Eactly correct. Neoliberalism brought about a paradigm shift from Stakeholder capitalism (social democracit ideals) to shareholder capitalism (corporatocracy/oligarchy/fascism)
