We won't be able to trade Noah this year in all probability. . but before the draft in June 2019 we might be able to do this trade with the Atlanta Hawks ..

Trade Noah ($19.3Mn contract for 2019/20), $5.2Mn in cash and our 2019 second round draft pick from Houston for Miles Plumlee ($12.5Mn contract for 2019/20)

This trade will create $6.9Mn in additional cap space - we will then be able to create more by using the stretch provision or sending Miles to another team along with cash and our 2020 second rounder to clear out an additional $12.5Mn in cap space ..

Just a thought ..

PS: The OP should read 2019/20, not 2018/19

Will probably cost 2 2nd round picks as 5.2mil will be viewed as a lot for a 2nd. But 2 2nd equates to $2.6mil per pick. Which would be less than the 3 mil price its usallay valued as.

I like that Idea though as an option if we have something lined up.

Very interesting.

Originally I felt the only two avenues for Noah were the Lakers (challenge trade for Luol Deng, but not likely since Deng, in theory, has more individual value than Noah and the Lakers need pure cap space opened) and the Suns ( they want to dump Brandon Knight on a cash rich team who can just buy him out plain, any warm body is an upgrade over an injured player who will never suit up again for the Suns)

The issue I see with the Hawks is they won't just dump Plumlee for Noah. That's not enough of an incentive to take the larger AAV.

They'd really like to dump Bazemore, but I doubt that's a fit either, since the Knicks have nothing to send to equalize about the value.

The larger issue for the Hawks is Dennis Schroder, who is a problem for their lockerroon and it's going to not end well with Trae Young coming in as the hopeful franchise guy and ball dominant guy.

They'd move Schroder and Plumlee for Noah, filler ( likely Lee) and Kevin Knox. Odds are Muscala's expiring would have to go to NY to balance it out. The Atlanta brass apparently really like Knox as well. Plumlee would be far easier to stretch in his last year from a cap angle. Should the Knicks do it? Yeah, I don't know, it's not good for either team honestly, but I think Atlanta would be game for that.

About 80 percent of teams going into this offseason are over the cap. Atlanta has a decent chunk of cap space in projections. I think close to 30 million. The "rental" value of the space for other teams bad contracts is going to be worth more than what the Knicks would give to dump Noah on them, even with Plumlee going the other way.

Phil Jackson just really f**ked this all up.

ccflushing, you've made some very strong posts on this board, curious, what do you think individually of Schroder and then again, Bazemore? Not saying the Knicks should take these guys, but since we are talking Hawks, we might as well assess the variable salary matches possible.

Yeah, I was going to ask what's in it for Atlanta? Plus would these deal even work out financially?
