The Brooklyn Nets have acquired Dwight Howard from the Charlotte Hornets for Timofey Mozgov, two second round picks and cash.

Charlotte was determined to move Howard this offseason. Howard has a $23.8 million expiring contract.

The Hornets will receive the Nets' second-round pick (No. 45) in Thursday's NBA draft and a 2021 second-round pick.

All it took were second round picks, cash and a moron on a different franchise.

The Knicks are the only team in the league that can't move a contract.

Howard actually played well. I am surprised Cleveland didn't get involved.

I don't get the hornets logic in this--why take on such a huge chunk of salary for an extra year when Howard was due to expire after next season. If they didn't want him around they could have just bought him out.

Seems to be his effect on team chemistry /the locker room, it's why the hawks shipped him out last year.

I've heard him speak a couple of times and he seemed bright and articulate -- like many of the great players are (i.e., not just dumb-jocks). He must be a real prima donna a-hole behind closed doors as this seems to follow him around to every team

I think Jordan is cash-strapped and couldn't afford the bill for this upcoming season. Mozgov makes about $7 million less than Howard annually, so it will help them save money in the immediate. And I suppose of you think of it in that context, you'd only be paying Mozgov about $9 million next year....which is still godawful....but tolerable.

I hope Perry and Mills are working the phones. These are the types of trades we need to alleviate the glut on our roster and salary cap.

Trades to help the cap come at a price. At this point of the process there is no reason to create cap space early since very few quality FAs will want to come here. Best to wait at least one more year for that.

agreed, if we think we'll stink next year we might consider receiving one of those contracts in exchange for an asset. Get someone to keep Noah company in purgatory

Cleveland didn’t offer because LeBron is on record for saying he wants higher IQ players. Howard isn’t that.

Allen Crabbe, Jarrett Allen, LaVert, 2018 TOR pick, some 2nd round picks and lots of cap space.

That's their team.

What on their roster do they have to show for the last 4-5 years or misery? Russell?

Mitch gave Moz that contract. He maybe a fan of his. The Knicks need an owner to hire Phil. Maybe Phil in a new spot would take Noah off of the Knicks hands. Otherwise, I don't see that boat anchor of a deal ever being moved. I do think there is a better chance that Noah gets moved before Phil gets a gm job.

Pretty sure Phil is done in the NBA. Dude is too old and too rich to take another gig even if Michael Jordan offers it

Agreed. Plus Phil isnt a idiot. Obviously the noah contract was terrible but he left us with some good young pieces and extra draft picks
