Outside of a Tier 1 move, a one pick move up or down would likely be a ceremonial type trade. I.E. a trade that lends the perception of a value shift, probably for a contract dump, more likely as an addition to a Challenge Trade.

A raw example would be if Gilbert Arenas and Rashard Lewis had different length contracts. If one had one more year, the other team would send over a few 2nd rounders and maybe do a one pick move in the first round if they had picks next to each other. Challenge Trades are my overpaid problem for your overpaid problem, maybe the change of scenery will help everyone.

Moving a couple of slots or more is different. There is likely a real shift in moving from one Tier to another in the draft. Outside of Tier 1 and Tier 2, the end of one Tier and the beginning of another starts to become incremental in terms of actual market value. The 9th overall is likely a Tier 3 pick. And so is the 10th overall.

Philly will make a push for LBJ, and they will need all their draft assets to move for veterans under contract. LBJ wants to play with established veterans.
