I bought the Street and Smith Preview yesterday of the upcoming season. It's ok, but I don't like their team descriptions because there is no position by position breakdown. But here's some stuff from their listings.

They had the Knicks #1 in their division, with Boston #2. They mentioned how the frontline isn't great, but solid. Also alot of talk of mortgaging the future and if the team doesn't succeed Isiah is screwed. Their line on Sweetney is that if he provides anything, it is a plus for the Knicks. I have high hopes for him. A blue collar Elton Brand is my hopes.

They list players for fantasy leagues. They had Stephon as the #1 PG. J Crawford was the #14 SG. T Thomas was not in the top 20 SFs. K Thomas was the #15 C. But these are fantasy league ratings. Their #2 person for a Breakdown season was Allan Houston.

I do wish we had one front court star, but maybe we can get something done next year.

that is more respect than they gave us in the lindy's basketball reveiw. they had us 3RD in our division behind philly and boston ( how can philly be number one with their frontcourt the way it is?). in fantasy they had marbury three and tex winters ranked point guards and put marbury frigging SEVENTH. no respect.

I'll be sure to skip Lindy's. Philly is going to have a bad year, I see Iverson being traded after the season is over.

I think Philly could be very good. All they need to do is bench the cancer that is Glenn Big Dog. AI will be better off at the point and they've surrounded him with athletic youth who can score or rebound or pass and always defend. I love Samuel Dalembert.

Come on man?? Philly's frontcourt

Dalemmbart Skinner Thomas Williamson and Jackson are a nice combination of bulk length and athletic ability. Those 4 guys are all big effecient players and Dalembart is possibly a breakout all star frontcourt player who can dominate on the D.

who is our best frontcourt player? i hope you dont say KT.

Briggs, in one thread you have Philly with the best front court, in another thread its Toronto - can you consolidate it all into one thread so we can keep track of all the teams in the Atlantic who are better than us?

And our best front court player is Tim Thomas, in case you were wondering, followed by Sweetney, then Nazr, then Kurt.

Phili scares me... they are certainly poised for a bigtime bounce back season and Big Dogs contract will be a nice piece at the trading deadline to improve their team. They arent the Knicks but they have some $$$ to spend and are in good shape with alot of young guys in the fold.

All that being said I think that they are a good matchup for us. We have a VERY difficult line up to defend and we have a good frontcourt on the boards that can get guys like TT, Crawford, Marbury and H20 more shots. We have some guys that can attack the basket and Penny/KT/Baker are good veterans off the bench to have and will each have thier moments.

Philly is definately scary....

Did you guy sknow that Kenny Thomas averaged 14 and 10? That's points and rebounds. That is crazy. They are for real.....

I think with Iverson as the point guard now and a healty Glen Robinson.....they might be just as good as the Knicks.....The Knicks only have the advantage at shooting guard.....If they can stay healthy they could really win some games.

Boston could suprise too cuz Al Jefferson might be the real deal. they have alot of skilled and athletic players. They got skilled size too. They could be really good or really bad and I trust Doc will have them ready to win.

I think which ever team that has the most suprises will be the most sucsessfull. The Knicks are banking that Nazr, Timmy, Craw, Houston, and Baker play to their potential.....I think the Knicks are the best if they come ready to play come November.

I wouldn't be too scared of Philly. After all we have Allan Houston. No one on the Philly team can stop allan houston from driving and dunking all over them. He will drop 50 on them every night because he will come back healthy.

And dont worry about AI. We can have Houston guard AI and shut him down completely. There is no way Iverson is scoring a point when he is guarded by H2O. You guys are worried for no reason. Now that our franchise H2O is finally healthy and has a good point guard to back him up, we are going to bring the championship home.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

I think the Knicks will be the best. Boston should be VERY close and Philly will be close, but ultimately finish third. I think Philly's big move will be how they deal with Glenn Robinson. I think they'd be better off if they cut him, but then they lose his expiring deal. Tough call.

Atlantic prediction...
Knicks 46 wins
Celtc 45 wins
Sixers 42 wins
Toronto 35 wins
Nets 30 wins

...close, but ugly.

How does Boston jump from 36 wins to 45 wins after adding only Payton and Fox (both of whom I don't see playing a game in a C's uni)?
If GP decides to play, then I see how you may see them as a much better team, but last I heard, he was still demanding a trade or retiring. Did I miss some new news?

Well....they're adding Delonte West, Al Jefferson, Raef Lafrenz, Gary Payton, the other young guard they drafted and are high on as well as new coach Doc Rivers. They have a full season of Ricky Davis next to Paul Pierce and Mark Blount. It's just a feeling I get about that team. I could be wrong, I suppose, but I feel like either Boston or Philly will be our main competition.

Also, Payton is definitely going. He's just putting on a show. He'll be ready to prove Kobe is a little b*tch just like Shaq (not that I think Kobe is that way, but I think Gary and Shaq will be out for BLOOD).
