While I don’t believe The Celtics would nexessarily want Lebron to beat GSW next year, if they do, them Kyrie would be expendable and doesn’t want to play w LBJ anyway. Say Kanter gets traded to Boston (expiring) for Kyrie without giving up 9 or Frank. No brainer right?? Then the issue becomes
Whether Enes pots out. (Or can we trade him to Denver dor # 14. Pipedreams you say?
Perhaps - yet I think 🤔 this one may have legs as Boston would win next year w Lebron and the prospect of KP Kyrie Frank (and either Wendell/Mikal or Porter)# 9 and Noah/Lee/Thomas/OQuinn Off the books ~ not to mention Burke/Tim and Dotson Off the bench...it’s a dramatic turnaround

No. Dont want to see the Knicks tie up that much cap room. Money better spent on a deeper bench. We need another star, also need depth. Dont believe Irving would be striking the right balance. Also worry about injuries, right after maxing him out. Feels all too familiar.

i agree. trade, no. do not give up assets to get him or we will be behind. however, clear cap room next year and have this year pick and next with a healthy porzingis in tow as well as frank n., to add a dynamic player like kyrie would be awesome. i am worried about his injury history though.

We need so many players, that there is no sense in gutting this team to get Kyrie at this point. Most prudent thing to do is build the team with the draft and then add on Kyrie as a free agent in 2019 if he is still willing to come here. We also need to see how he is going to do with injuries in the next year before committing large amount of money (similar to KP)

Hell no. We need guys who can defend and don't always need the ball to be effective.

I was going to say that word for word minus “As a.”

The Knicks were on Irving’s wish list when he sought a trade from the Cavaliers, and at the All-Star break, when asked his reaction to Kristaps Porzingis’ ACL tear, he gave another revealing response.

I told him I would love to play with a big like you, man, when we played them in the beginning of the season when he came to Boston [in November],’’ Irving said. “He’s so versatile. So I wish him nothing but the best and hope he comes back even stronger.”

If I was boston i would be concern to

As a free agent sure, we have as good a shot as anyone. I think either Irving or Walker could land in NY for sure in summer 2019.

seems like injuries in sports are a given unless your Labron/brett favre/cal ripken.

Durability in sports is so rare, it doesnt matter who we get, injuries can happen at any time to anyone.

I'm sure KP is starting to get injury prone label

very mixed feelings

biggest pro (besides his skills) is this seems to be the second or third time he's express what seems like a genuine desire to play in NY, and I'm a softie/sucker for that

biggest negative injury history. He'll want max and when you assume he'll play 60 or less games is that worth it?

Not for max money. That would be a bad allocation of scarce resources in my opinion.

There's only a few iron men in sports. Hopefully after this, KP can avoid anymore major injuries, but i assume he will be a 60-70 game per year guy. That is fine as long as we have help. Kemba Walker might actually be more likely to get than Kyrie. He's not as good, but he's less of an injury risk i guess.

No, mainly because of his injury history - we've been down this road before

Really? Already forgotten all about the last piece of sh!t that wanted to play in NY and dictate terms? They don't give a rats ass about the Knicks, they only care about the access to the market to "build their beand". What is it with Knicks fans and learning from the Past?
