How does this play out? Is it a coin flip, based on their play against one another ? 8th could be nice and increases the possibility of getting in top 3 considerably.

In case of a tie the ping pong balls are split evenly. They do do a coin flip to determine the default order in the case that neither team jumps up in the lottery.

Head to head does not matter.

why would any knick fan want pick 8, when that spot has a history of producing marginal NBA talent

As opposed to pick #9? Are you asking this seriously?

in the last 10 yrs the #9 has produce (to name a few) derozen, Drummond, kemba, burke, Gordon haywood noah

while the #8 pick hasn't produce a single all star in over 10+ yrs.

Yes I'm very serious

Doesn't work like this, bro...

You are basically saying that one draft slot has some kind of magic predictive power...It just doesn't work like that.

Apart from being able to have a greater choice, the issue is # 8 carries with it - a significantly higher possibility of entering the top 3.

Which in itself is ridiculous the weighting is all messed up and doesn't take into account win totals. Should a 22 win team really have a 40% better chance at the top 3 than a 27 win team, is there that much of a talent gap?
