So many moves discussed, Id like to see a legit starting PG running the show, before we change the frontcourt, or fire the coach. Some things Xs and Os cant fix. Dont believe he's lost the team as of now.
LOL we do this every year--we think were good and look up from the 10th seed and 122 games under. Its rinse repeat with the Knicks. No tanking--were just not good.
LOL, I agree with both of you. Yeah, it does seem to be the same old thing every year and it's frustrating. BUT.. I kinda agree with what Gus is saying too -- why not try to go out and add a quicker, preferably younger PG (an offensive-minded one) and see how the team responds NOW? I mean I like a lot of the parts we have in place -- Lee's playing well (the best he's looked since he's been here, much better than last year), Kanter's a GOOD player (too bad there not an immediate sense of urgency to call his number much more--I feel we could be getting so much more out of this dude), O'Quinn, Beasley... We have some damn good parts here. Jack, to me, is the problem. Dude is past his prime and it shows, even with him playing better over the last month or so. He's just not the answer for us--not now, not for the future past this year.. I've been calling out some names, guys we could get for nothing or very little--Cat Barber, Marcus Paige, Bryce Cotton I've always liked, or even maybe attempt a minor trade for a guy like Demetrius Jackson or Gary Payton II.. We chose Trey Burke -- OK, he fits what I'm looking for more or less. He's quick/offensive-minded, did what he had to do at Westchester (and then some) and earned a call-up, now give him a shot!! Agree with Knicks1248 -- give the man a shot now. He's looked good in limited minutes--the Net game, esp. closing out the game in Utah. I agree, give the man some more meaningful minutes. Shit, I'd start Burke to be honest. Let's see whole games with Burke/Frank at the helm and see how we look there. Jack's playing a bit better, yes, but come on guys, where are we going with him? NOWHERE! That's my thing.. Half a season left -- to me, if we don't find out as much as we can about Burke, it's a waste.
And that's not to say we shouldn't be opportunistic when we can, we should. Scour the landscape looking for improvements and to maximize talent/value -- if O'Quinn really does have some decent trade value, pull the trigger. If the Warriors really like him and they want to give us that last pick in the 1st round, I think we do that. Or some other move to restock and get a little younger/up the talent level -- KOQ to the Magic for Khem Birch/the rights to Janis Timma maybe? KOQ to the Pacers for Joe Young? To CHI for Antonio Blakeney? To Portland for Pat Connaughton? I dunno--see if those teams would be down for something like that. Then go out and call up Christian Wood or Brandon Ashley to cover O'Quinn's spot. I like O'Quinn but I look at either of these guys as a marked improvement athletic & talent-wise -- a guy like Wood/Ashley would allow us to match up much better with quicker forwards, like the slew of quicker Fs we saw against the Lakers (Randle, Kuzma, Ingram, Nance Jr.), then reincorporate Hernangomez back into the rotation full-time as a primary big. That's a big win to me w/o giving up much at all, just an attempt to maximize value. I'd like to see us look at stuff like that..
