no one is giving rodney white more than that. it wouldve been a better investment to buyout moochie not sign sundov or brewer --use penny as the back up PG and white as the back up 3-4-2
You use the term "would have been" as if you somehow think it's now impossible to sign Rodney White

i have no problem w/signing Brewer, but i totally agree w/u about White being a worthwhile signing...maybe we can still get him if the LLE would be good enough...he might want out of DEN if they choose to go w/a veteran like Michael Curry or Bryon Russell who will understand their role & not complain about minutes next season...White could contend w/Penny for minutes here, & if Houston is unavailable for a chunk of next season, there would be enough minutes to go around that he might want to come here.

why buy out Moochie? I am not crazy about the guy, but besides the guy we just signed from Indiana, we have only one true point guard and that is moochie.

Should marbury be hurt for say 20+ games, I don't think you can have only Penny as a back up.

And at some point, Moochie will be in the last year of his contract, and very tradable.

Plus- the guy did have some great games for us last year-

No. The league rule is that you can only sign and trade your OWN players. Actually, the league doesn't even like this but it's a legal loop hole that the Knicks found to acquire none other than Chris Dudley.
actually that loophole has been fixed. What the Knicks did was sign someone like Dudley for one year, then give him whatever they wanted (in Duds case about $7mm per) when that year is up. The new CBA now has restrictions. You can resign a guy for 90% raise after you have had him 2 years. After 3 years he has full Bird rights. After one year you have to use the MLE all over again.

You're right about that. But I was talking about when the NYK actually acquired Dudley from Portland. That was the first ever sign and trade. The NBA didn't like it, but they conceded it was a loophole. Ever since, there have obviously been more sign and trades.

Sundov hasn't signed with the Knicks just yet, so there is no need to get all excited.

thats a scary thought---- that would kill the knicks season if moochie had to play a significant role for 20 games. the nice thing about having crawford and marbury is they can both play 1-2 if needed at a high level. if h20 has problems and marbury did get hurt

id rather have crawford move to 1 with penny playing back up and white playing 2G with andersen

i think what brewer needed to do was go to europe like what kevin ollie did and build up his game, he does have the big size and athletiscm[hs probably the best athlete on the team along with ariza] but i can think of dozens of elite top notch athletes[athletiscm] who just didnt have the skills to make it in the league. i dont know at this point if its sound to have our back up PGs moochie and brewer.

we dont need sundov--we should still consider buying out moochie and going after white, using hardaway as the third type PG.

Knicks Sign Free Agent Bruno Sundov

NEW YORK, September 8, 2004 – New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Isiah Thomas announced today that center Bruno Sundov has been signed to a contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal are not announced.
Sundov, 7-2, 260-pounds, appeared in four games for the Cleveland Cavaliers and one for the Knicks during the 2003-04 season, averaging 2.2 points, 2.0 rebounds and 6.6 minutes. The six-year NBA veteran was signed to a 10-day contract on Jan. 21, 2004 by New York. In 81 career games, the Croatian-native has averaged 1.8 points and 1.2 rebounds for the Dallas Mavericks, Indiana Pacers, Boston Celtics, Cavaliers and Knicks.

“Bruno will add size and depth to our frontcourt,” Thomas said. “I have monitored his progress throughout his career. We have seen his improvement and feel we are getting him at the right stage of his development.”

I really don't get this unless the deal is non-guaranteed. Sigh. No Keon.

I like him because Isiah said so....

It's not like the Knicks just signed Eisley, Ward, Houston, Shandon, or Weatherspoon to an outrageous contract........can you say Lay-dum?

Or Foyle and Fisher for that matter....Chis Dummen

Same here. I will trust Isiah, for now. His plans should show true color after this up-coming trade deadline.

wow they signed him to a locked 1 yr 845,000K contract thats a big chunk of change for a guy who has done absolutley nothing in 4-5 yeasr in the nBA---if the knicks are trying to win now--why not offer Kevin Willis the vet minimum of 995,000 he may be 41 but hes 50 times better than Sundov. i hope this guy has leanred to move inside, otherwise hes just a much much worse version of zhi zhi wang.

7-FOOTER SUNDOV BACK WITH KNICKS

September 9, 2004 -- The Knicks signed a 7-footer yesterday, but not a Shaq stopper.

Bruno Sundov, who had a 10-day stint with the Knicks last season, was inked ostensibly to replace their other European project, Cezary Trybanski, lost in the Jamal Crawford trade.

Sundov is 7-2, 260 pounds, but Lenny Wilkens thought so much of him last season the Knicks released him after Sundov appeared in just one game. The Croatian also played four games for Cleveland.

Isiah Thomas, who first had Sundov in Indiana, has tried to sign free agent Keon Clark despite his past legal problems with marijuana possession.

"Bruno will add size and depth to our frontcourt," Thomas said. "We are getting him at the right stage of his development." Marc Berman

Does that mean he did try to add Clark first and Sundov was his backup plan? I'm not crazy about Sundov taking the 15th spot, but I assume Isiah liked what he saw in practices, which we didn't see. Still, I would have preferred to add someone with more upside, even if it wasn't at a position we needed help like Rodney White or Marcus Fizer. If you give those guys a 3 year contract, you have their Bird rights and can keep them in your system if they develop well.

We don't need Rodney White in any way. We already have far too many 2's and 3's and 4's. Is White an upgrade over Penny or JYD? Maybe he's got more guns, that's about it.

Is all the Bruno Sundov attention a joke? Isn't he just some 14th player, injured reserve kind of player? It's not like he's Greg Ostertagg or anything.

Why does everyone trust Isiah...what has he accomplished? Aside from ending the CBA, allienating everyone in Toronto and underachieving in Indiana.

He was in a very flexible position with the Knicks with huge expiring contracts and draft choices. He gave Crawford 10 per, was going to give Dampier the same, and effectively kill any flexibility.

So why do you trust Isiah...Brewer and Sundov, for what purpose

Marbury, Norris, Brewer
Houston, Crawford
Tim Thomas, Penny, Ariza, Anderson
Kurt Thomas, Sweetney, JYD
Naz, Baker, Sundov

Do we need 15 guys, if we were going to make a worthless signing we might as well got Clarke

So why do u trust Isiah

15 players, we can only keep 12. Isiah must be up to something. The little rascal is so full of surprises!

Guys, we talking scrubs here! We are locked for now with our front line. Its not championship quality, but its ok.

The Isiah love fest must inclode some patience. There is but so much that can be done for now.

Sundov is someone we can throw at shaq for 5 min if our guys are in foul trouble.

League mandates that each team have at least one white Euro-stiff so folks can be reminded how great our home grown Non-white players really are! Other wise we would wish for eurostyle ball that has a lot of shooting and passing! Imagine, negating athletic prowess with ball movement, a reasonable shooting percentage, and able to hit 80% or better of FT's! The league would crumble!
