Great little Venue up in Greensboro. They built "The Fieldhouse" adjacent to the Greensboro Coliseaum just for the Swarm. They practice there too. Venue holds 23,000 for Basketball, "The Fieldhouse" holds 2500. Not a bad seat there.
Since all games are filmed, the lighting on the floor is pro grade. Easy parking, easy entry and exit.
$17 a ticket!!!
Last year I saw War Plumlee, Jordan Crawford and Chasson Randle. Players this year of note was Paul Watson, Isiah (K)Hicks, Kornet, and Trey Burke.
Knicks won the game. Hicks was a top 5 high school player when he signed up with UNC. He is pretty good. A bit of a black hole and got into some trouble because of it but its the Gleague and these guys are gunning to pile stat's and get the hell out of there!! Is Hicks NBA material? I think he can play off the bench but the game must come to him. He's a big kid, looks like he could handle himself but there is just a sort of lack of fire in him. Something tells me the kid is playing too much video games and his hair is important. Its Gleague.
Trey Burke had good stats on the night but the fist half he seems to lose his man on defense. Second half better, and when he controlled the ball, called for iso and did his thing able to win the game. He knew what to do with the ball. When to shoot, when to dump. Good penetration pg. Lets just say what he did don't fly in the NBA. He did have trouble getting by Marcus Paige (Hicks teammate from UNC). Paige is a nice shooter, short of a smaller version of Hubert Davis. He was the Swarm PG. Burke not quick enough but good body control and was smooth.
In all Im not loving on Trey Burke and certainly not the answer for the Knicks. My feeling is he got a promise from the knicks and we will seem him get a call up when a spot or injury opens up. Don't hate on Baker like this kid is going to make us forget him. He won't. But I'm no pro scout so what do I know???
Thought of Briggs assertion that Frank should spend time in the Gleague to work on his offense. Actually I think given the lack of fundamental soundness the Gleague has with guys running set offenses one might say Frank is better off getting quality minutes in the NBA and adapting to the speed and strength than playing down. Frank needs more than 20 games to assimilate.
As for Kornet, he don't look like it, but he was the best player on the floor. The kid could rebound, put backs via Dunks, block and nice outside stroke. Physically he appears underdeveloped but players bigger than he looks! He looks he could be comfortable teaching 3rd grade students! Kind of dorky. But, he was fluid and knew were to be. He is far more polished on the perimeter than Willy.
His body is not ready for the NBA, might not ever be.
No answers to be found in "The Fieldhouse". Had a good time. Friday afternoon 2pm game, then had a 2nd thanksgiving dinner with some friends up there and drove home. Took Mrs. Nalod and the Nalod Kids for a great afternoon out!
